Don't be fooled by what The Secret says. Before its publication, a motivational author already assured us: "What you fear won't happen."
Regarding the effectiveness of alum, you can try increasing your concentration. I know that in Spain they sell cylindrical alum stones to apply to damp skin, as a deodorant, and they can last between 1 and 2 years.
I hope to hear about your full recovery soon and that, despite the mileage, you continue to thrive.

I'm going to try increasing the concentration. Here they told me that pieces of the stone can be found in esoteric shops, I'll stop by anytime to see if it's true.

You might find better prices at Arab grocery stores or in stores that sell spices and condiments; a visit to the free market might be another option.
