Morning of 7th July 2025

Hello! 👋

Last Sunday, I had a longer stay than the usual hours I spend on Sundays. Our church group went out to visit a member who lost one of his younger brothers. We were many that went, including the pregnant wife of our group leader. We stayed out until 2:40 p.m. because it was raining heavily.

That Sunday, our group leader had told me to call him very early the following morning, which was Monday, to get information on some tasks we needed to do so I could go ahead.

When Monday morning came, around 7:00 a.m., I put a call through to him, but my call was not answered. I called up to three times and decided not to call further because it could be that he was busy. I waited till 9:00 a.m., and I still didn’t get his call. That was so unusual of him because he doesn’t joke with my calls and he's always with his phone—except when he’s in the bathroom. At least, I know him to always be active with his phone.

I put a call through again, and he still didn’t pick. I decided to stay cool and wait for whenever he was going to return the call.

After about an hour, I saw his call and picked it—and guess what? He had been busy popping champagne and had kept his phone aside. That Monday was his birthday, and that same morning, his pregnant wife had put to birth a bouncing baby girl.

I placed myself in his shoes, and I saw how 'high' in excitement one could be in such a good moment of one’s life.

The most interesting thing is that it was around 4:00 a.m. that Monday that he took his wife to the hospital, and around 5:00 a.m., he was notified that he had welcomed a new baby girl into his life—a baby girl in the midst of the two boys he already has. The wife didn’t show any signs of pressure or weakness at all, because she was with us the previous day before the labour. We were all surprised because, usually, there must have been signs that she was due, but that wasn’t visible to us at all.

That Monday morning brought a memorable moment to him—not just because it was his birthday, but also because of the arrival of a baby. Probably, he didn’t expect his wife to deliver on his birthday, and the delivery was smooth like that of the Hebrew women. To crown it all, the exact gender he had been expecting was what came out.

When he called to inform me, I could hear loud music blasting in the background, and there were sounds of people laughing and shouting in merriment. He told me to come over to his house and forget the task we were supposed to do. I couldn’t go as requested because I was already into something and couldn’t leave it unattended.

Thanks for reading.
