Bank holiday ?/ Feriado bancario?

Hello, dear community.
Hive Ecuador.
Today I want to talk to you about an issue that seems to be causing concern among citizens in the country.

This photo is for reference only; I found it on Google.

Although the authorities of this financial institution have apparently already given an interview and publicly announced that they are not bankrupt, people's concern and desperation to withdraw their money from this institution are growing.

Long lines at banks and ATMs, and mobile banking has many flaws; apparently, there is no system.

This concern is normal, since years ago I remember something happened that they called a "bank holiday."

In which...
Literally, they wrote off the savings of a large portion of the population, many of whom never recovered financially or psychologically; they fell into depression.

Today, my sister called me, very worried, to tell me she was going to the bank to withdraw some money she had saved there.

It wasn't much, but it was obviously hard to save, and she didn't want to lose it.

I was returning from Guayaquil from a medical appointment with my son.

So I told her I'd go to the ATM later to see if I could withdraw the money I'd also saved.

It's not much, but it'll do the trick.

I'm wondering...
And are you going to withdraw what you say you have in cryptocurrency???

To which I replied NO.

As my friend @meno would say... I trust hive more than any centralized financial institution.

Well, she didn't say anything to this answer... 🙂

Indeed, I later went to an ATM to try to withdraw my money, but I couldn't because I don't have an ATM card. Every time I've withdrawn money, it's always been through a text message with a code sent to my cell phone.

This time, it didn't work, so I logged into mobile banking, and after several attempts, I was able to transfer my funds to another account at another financial institution that I use occasionally.

My sister went to the bank's offices in La Libertad and found out that they were telling people trying to withdraw their funds that there was no system, but people who came to pay off a bank loan were admitted.

So!!

There's no system for withdrawing? And for paying? 🤔
That's weird, right?

My sister also told me that the ATMs were full.
Well, what I think about this is that they'll be like this until the ATMs run out of money, and then the real chaos will begin.

It's OBVIOUS that no bank has the money of the people who save in their institutions!!
That's not how it works!!

They lend the money that people save and then earn high interest when they finish paying off the loan.

So the answer is NO, the bank doesn't have the money it claims to have.

In the course of the days, if people continue withdrawing their money like they're trying to do, the bank will declare bankruptcy. But it's not because the money doesn't exist, it's because they have it distributed in different loans.

But hey, that's part of the system...

Okay, I think that's all I've told you about what's happening to people and the concerns of everyone who has money in this bank.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hola querida comunidad.
Hive ecuador.

Me pregunto...

"Y ahora?"
