Germany could hardly have asked for a better start to their World Cup campaign after cruising to a 7-1 victory over Curaçao. The scoreline was one-sided, but the match was about more than just Germany's attacking display. It was also a special day for Curaçao, a small nation that managed to create a piece of World Cup history.

The Germans started exactly as many expected. Felix Nmecha put them ahead after only six minutes, and it looked like the game might quickly turn into a rout. However, Curaçao had a moment that nobody watching will forget anytime soon.
Livano Comenencia scored the country's first-ever World Cup goal, bringing the score level at 1-1 and sending their supporters into celebration mode. Considering that Curaçao has a population of roughly 160,000 people, it was an incredible achievement. In that moment, the result almost didn't matter. They had already made history.
Of course, Germany's quality eventually took over. Nico Schlotterbeck restored the lead with a header before Kai Havertz converted from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 before halftime.
The second half was even more comfortable for Julian Nagelsmann's side. Jamal Musiala added another goal shortly after the restart, continuing to show why he is considered one of the most exciting young players in world football. Nathaniel Brown, Denis Undav, and Havertz also got on the scoresheet as Germany's attack proved far too much for Curaçao to handle.
What impressed me most was the movement and creativity in Germany's attack. Florian Wirtz looked in control whenever he had the ball, while Musiala constantly caused problems with his dribbling and quick decision-making. Going forward, Germany looked sharp and dangerous throughout the game.
That said, I don't think the performance was perfect. Curaçao managed to find a goal and had a few moments where Germany's defense looked slightly exposed. Against stronger opposition later in the tournament, those defensive lapses could become a bigger concern for them.
Still, Germany won't complain. Seven goals, three points, and a confident start to the World Cup is exactly what they wanted. As for Curaçao, despite the heavy defeat, they leave with a memory that will last forever. Their first World Cup goal is now part of football history, and that's something nobody can take away from them.
