If I will be honest, when Eric Chelle was first appointed as the coach of the Super Eagles, I wasn't sure what to expect. Nigerian football fans have seen many coaches come and go over the years, and every new appointment is usually met with a mix of hope and skepticism. But after watching the team under his leadership for some time now, I have started to believe that he could be the right man to take Nigerian football forward.

What has impressed me the most is that the team finally seems to have a clear direction. When I watch the Super Eagles these days, I can see a pattern in the way they play. The players look more organized, and there is a sense of purpose in their game. It may not be perfect yet, but there is visible progress compared to what we have seen in the past. I even lost the interest of watching their games at some point but things are pretty good right now.
Another thing I admire about Chelle is his willingness to give different players opportunities. Instead of relying on the same set of players every match, he rotates his squad and allows others to prove themselves. I think this is important because football is a team sport, and every player should feel they have a chance to contribute.
The results have also been encouraging. Since taking over, he has managed 11 matches and remains unbeaten, with 7 wins and 4 draws so far. Statistics do not always tell the whole story, but they do show that the team is moving in the right direction. Going unbeaten in your first 11 games as Nigeria's coach is not something that should be overlooked.
Of course, there is still a long way to go. Nigerian football fans have big dreams, and we all want to see the Super Eagles competing with the very best teams in the world. There will be tougher tests ahead, and Chelle will eventually face challenges that will truly measure his ability as a coach.
That said, I believe he has earned the chance to continue what he has started. Building a successful national team takes time, patience, and stability. Constantly changing coaches whenever things become difficult rarely leads to long-term success.
With only a few months left on his current contract, I hope the Nigeria Football Federation does the right thing and begins discussions about an extension. From what I have seen so far, Eric Chelle has brought fresh ideas, confidence, and a sense of identity to the Super Eagles. For me, that is enough reason to keep faith in his project and allow him to continue building for the future.
