Warm greetings to the beautiful family of Hive and QC Community. How are y'all doing? Trust your day is going on well. Welcome to my blog. I'm super excited to be part of this week's contest;

Knowledge : What knowledge has helped you the most in your life? When and how did you learn it? Under what circumstances do you use it? Why do you think it has helped you so much?

I've always had this thought that, of what use is knowledge if not applied when necessary? Knowledge is not limited to one field of thought alone. We learn new things everyday but the difference is in the application.

One knowledge that has really helped me the most in my life is to never allow other people's actions determine mine. As much as possible I've tried in so many ways to make this concept one of my guiding principles. Knowing fully well that we are all different in our ways, and so are our opinions and values.

I learned this in one of the courses I took during my teacher's training programs. Because as a teacher your students may put up a behavioral attitude to deliberately annoy you, or cause chaos in the class if you react based on that or not properly handled you may escalate the situation, which may not augur well.

I also went ahead to enhance this knowledge by reading books that has to do with individual differences, and how to handle juvenile delinquency. This has not only helped me in my profession but also in my family and in dealing with people generally.

I usually use this knowledge on different occasions, especially when I know that my patience or office is being put to test based on my profession. When I was the headteacher in one of the establishments that I worked with, I scolded a pupil for coming late to school.

The following day the mother accompanied him to school screaming from the gate to my office, not knowing exactly what the child may have told her at home. I walked up to her and politely asked what the problem was. The next thing she did was a punch on my face. I didn't retaliate but was wondering what led to that. She even wanted to throw another punch but was dragged out by some teachers who came to the scene.

I was super proud of myself that I never fought back, moreso, before my learners who see me as a role model. Besides that, one of the parents came the day after to inquire about what happened in school the previous day, that the child said someone came to the school to display madness.

What if I had reacted the way the woman did? I would be termed as displaying madness too. My application of that knowledge helped me avert unnecessary misinterpretation of who I really am. It also earned me respect from my employer, a raise and promotion.

It's quite necessary we train ourselves in such a way that others actions or inactions don't determine ours, especially when serving the public. Because people will always behave differently. This has really helped me a lot.

Thanks for stopping by, I truly and deeply appreciate it. Have a wonderful day! 🙏🙌🤗💚💪✨

Lol,

Noon, you did well by not retaliating and it paid off.

That's professionalism at its peak

Lol...even I didn't believe I could stand that. Ordinarily I doubt it.

Lol... It's not easy my sister

You know, there are certain things you shouldn't do even when you're right because of your position as a leader and people who look up to you. Though, it's not easy but one just have to try.

OMG! That mother was crazy, I don't usually like to say that, but who on their right mind would think of hitting her son's teacher just because he was scolded for being late?

never allow other people's actions determine mine.

This one is so good. And is exactly as you said, some people will try to annoy us on purpose.

It's a common practice here, a lot of women do that out of ignorance, without considering the effects on their children.

Yes, that's it.

Thanks for your comment, well appreciated 🙏!
