Warm greetings to the Hiveans and QC family. It's a privilege to participate in this week's prompt as was presented by @qc community, which is hereby stated thus;
Persistence - How important is persistence to you? What's the difference between persistence and stubbornness? Do you think you should always be persistent, or do you think there comes a time when you just have to stop trying?
When I have a strong conviction about a course, or a goal I want to achieve I'm deaf to any form of negativity or roadblock. People may not see it the way I do, because it's a cross I have to bear, not theirs. I see walls that may stand as an obstacle against the way as a springboard on which I leap on to get to my finish line. That is how important persistence is to me, to be tough on setbacks and challenges that come my way.
It's easy for stubbornness to be mistaken as persistence because there's a thin line between both traits. While persistence could be said to be a situation whereby one continues to hold on to one's opinion, course or goal irrespective of any hitch or difficulty faced, especially because of the fact that it is a right course.
Stubbornness on the other hand could be said to be a situation where one refuses to change one's opinion, course, or action even when it's not reasonable to continue. While persistence is also a positive trait and refusal to give up on a decision that leads to growth. Stubbornness is a negative trait, especially when one is ignorantly refusing to give up on a wrong decision that won't make any headway or add value to one's effort.
When one encounters difficulties on the dream/goal to which one is pursuing that has a positive impact, I think it's a wise decision for one to be persistent in the pursuit of such a feat rather than give in. Because it is at a moment of challenges that one embraces breakthroughs if one perseveres. On the contrary, it is also a wise decision for one to quit a task when it has no positive impact nor encourages growth.
Perseverance is important when you've proven beyond every reasonable doubt and are convinced that the pursuit of a course is worthwhile. Persistence is exhibiting resilience or determination towards the pursuit of a right course or goal. Stubbornness is ignorantly refusing to shift ground or make a change even when the decision is unreasonable. It's right to persevere when the intention is right, as such never stop trying.
