Summary/Resumen
An unexpected young woman, who works as a lady-in-waiting for Mrs. Van Hopper, meets the wealthy Maxim de Winter, a widower and much older than her, on a trip to Monte Carlo. There they fall in love and marry in haste. After the honeymoon, they return to the Winter's country mansion: Manderley. Everything is perfect until the memory of the deceased Rebecca, de Winter's first wife, begins to haunt the young bride.

My opinion/Mi opinión
It is an excellent thriller that exposes the deepest feelings of a young woman. Jealousy for her husband's former wife obsesses her and begins to affect her mood and her self-esteem. The beautiful and intelligent Rebecca is compared to her by several people (family, friends, servants), who emphasize the fact of how different the protagonist is from the former mistress of Manderley. The latter feels inferior, as she believes she does not measure up to Rebecca's virtues, and her existence begins to weigh on her. The comparisons begin with her physical appearance and escalate to her manner: her clumsiness, her insecurity, she even gets lost in her own house!
Es una excelente película de suspenso que deja en descubierto los sentimientos más profundos de una joven mujer. Los celos por la anterior esposa de su marido la obsesionan y estos comienzan a repercutir en su estado de ánimo y en su amor propio. La bella e inteligente Rebecca es comparada con ella por varias personas (la familia, amigos, criados), que recalcan el hecho de lo diferente que es la protagonista a la anterior señora de Manderley. Esta se siente inferior, ya que cree que no está a la altura de las virtudes de Rebecca, y su existencia comienza a pesarle. Las comparaciones comienzan con su aspecto físico y escalan a su manera de ser: su torpeza, su inseguridad, ¡hasta se pierde en su propia casa!
This is noticed by Mrs. Danvers who takes advantage of his insecurity to be cruel to unsuspected levels. The housekeeper is the character I hated the most of all, even more than Rebecca, for her wickedness against the protagonist that has no limits. Moreover, the woman's cruelty has no serious justification and only loyalty to her former employer can be taken as a motive. She is obsessed with Rebecca to the point of leaving her room untouched. On the other hand, we have the husband. Mr. de Winter strikes me as a very complex and contradictory character, who always seems to be hiding something. The young woman thinks she discovers that he still has tender feelings for his first wife and this causes her a lot of sadness.
Esto es advertido por la señora Danvers que aprovecha su inseguridad para ser cruel a niveles insospechados. El ama de llaves es el personaje que más odié de todos, incluso más que a Rebecca, por su maldad contra la protagonista que no tiene límites. Además, la crueldad de la mujer no tiene justificativo serio y sólo la fidelidad a su antigua patrona puede ser tomado como un motivo. Está obsesionada con Rebecca hasta el punto de dejar su habitación intacta. Por otro lado, tenemos al esposo. El señor de Winter me parece un personaje muy complejo y contradictorio, que siempre parece estar ocultando algo. La joven cree descubrir que guarda aún tiernos sentimientos hacia su primera esposa y esto le provoca mucha tristeza.
I thought the acting of the characters was very good, I especially like Lily James because she gives the character that phenomenal naivety that the young wife has and from which we expect a lot and her evolution throughout the film.
La actuación de los personajes me pareció muy buena, me gusta sobre todo Lily James porque le da al personaje esa ingenuidad fenomenal que tiene la joven esposa y de la que esperamos mucho y su evolución en toda la película.
The history is gripping and takes you deep into the soul of a human being. The ending is unexpected and the secret hidden by the shadows of Manderley about Rebecca is not expected by anyone. The suspense grabs you from the beginning and continues throughout the film. I liked it a lot and if you are attracted to romantic period movies, you will love this one.
La historia es atrapante y te lleva a lo más profundo del alma de un ser humano. El final es inesperado y el secreto que esconde las sombras de Manderley sobre Rebecca no se lo espera nadie. El suspenso te atrapa desde el principio y se sigue manteniendo durante toda la película. A mi me gustó mucho y se te atraen las películas románticas de época, esta te va a encantar.
