It is very likely that any person who has used their own desktop or mobile device for a few months has already experienced some sort of data loss, for which they wished they had copies somewhere of their (most) important files. π§ββοΈπ€

That's why I regularly clone the SSDs that run my Arch/Artix Linux installations, so I don't lose anything important. πππβ¨π€

Honestly, this new generation of NVMe SSDs have a very long lifespan. The cloning is only one write pass each time, so it really doesn't degrade them very much. I use each SSD, with its Arch/Artix installation, for months at a time, then I swap for another, and clone the last one. I also do clone the SSD that I'm currently using, when I make notable changes to the system in some way. Also HHDs do survive her just fine, but it became increasingly difficult to find new laptops that supported HHDs. πππβ¨π€
