Having pets around is absolutely better for people. Even folks who aren't alone are shown to recover from illness faster if they have the companionship of a cat other cuddly pet.

It's sad how many countries do not have enough support for the elderly and many if not most families do not have the supports they would need to give an elderly family member the care they need.
