Societally and in some cultural aspects, women are tagged as being ”weak”. Hence, an outstanding woman is celebrated by her clan for doing something great. But the truth is that women are not weak at all. If anything, we are stronger than we sometimes claim to be or even look.
Women are beautiful, powerful and the most resilient creatures created by God. But sometimes, we pass through difficulties that tend to weigh heavily on us and create that illusion of “weakness”.
It is at times like this that we need to hold out a helping hand, to lift those women up from the abyss of pain and make them see themselves in the right light.
I'm no stranger to pain. About six years ago when my supposed engagement failed, I cried. I woke up at midnight and all I could do was cry till I became weary. I thought that I was not good enough and that i was weak.
I tried praying amidst my tears but it wasn't easy. I asked a lot of questions but no human ciuld answer me except God and He did it in a very hilarious way. He led me to find a strong woman whom I listened to and drew strength from. Hearing this great woman speak transformed my life.
I stopped the tears, buckled up and began a new journey towards my purpose in life. This woman made me realize that there was more I could do because God has placed that capability inside of me.
Wanna know who that woman is? I'll tell you.

Her name is Funke Felix Adejumo (Bishop). She was ordained as a Bishop some months ago. She is a renowned and seasoned speaker, female rights activist and relationship & marriage counselor. She is also an author of over 120 books with multiple businesses to her name. Plus, she is all for women empowerment.
I think for me, her best advice that has helped me is…
You are not El-shaddai, else you shall die”.
Listening to her videos inspired me so much that I picked up myself, worked on myself and strived for a better me. Today, when I speak with confidence on certain matters it is not because I'm intelligent alone or because I'm knowledgeable alone rather it is as a result of her impact in driving me to be better in life.
When I heard her story of how her people rejected her because she was born female and how she had to struggle to attend school without much support, I clicked with her. She shared how she even had to hawk goods on her head daily for years so that her family could feed and how even after marriage, the struggle amplified until God brought a breakthrough. All her stories touched me deeply.
She is an embodiment of strength and how powerful a woman can be if she so chooses. At 60 years old, she is currently reading law in school, broadening her horizons. What is not to love about this strong woman?
One other important thing about her person that I'm proud of is her intimate and dogged faith in God. She is so resolute in her faith and it is quite contagious when you listen to her speak. Her life is a great model for younger women to follow and her teachings her very practical especially in business and in marriage.
From her videos, I learnt never to cry because of a man's actions that hurt me. She taught me to prioritize myself and pat my own shoulders myself for my little wins. She often encourages women to like themselves and shun comparison. Most importantly, as a woman, her advice is for us to be financially independent with our she- money.
Bishop Funke Felix Adejumo is a blessing and I hope that more women encounter her so that they too can learn how to journey through challenges and come out on top.
Thank you all for reading.
