The problem with stories wasn't that we wanted to be princesses. The problem was the function manual that came with the crown.
A princess had to be pretty, delicate, patient, grateful and, above all, very easy to lead. She could have a dress, a castle and even a crown, but she had her own criteria... that was already an abuse of power.
They showed us what a good woman expected. She hoped that she would be chosen, that she would be approved, that love would come and that someone else would make the important decisions. Because when a woman talked tough, defended herself or knew exactly what she wanted, she stopped being a princess and was automatically transferred to the witch department.

And so many of us grew up: trying to be sweet enough not to make us uncomfortable, pretty enough to be chosen and strong enough to carry everything... but without being too noticeable, because we didn't have to scare Prince Charming either 💙.

The old Disney movies showed the reality of the time in a softened way but they give you a lesson that not everyone saw. Unfortunately, the princesses of mine in the 60s-70s, were Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, I love that now things have changed.
The society gave us a plastic crown and, while we were having fun making sure we didn't drop it, it taught us to put our own life on pause.
But there comes an age when one begins to review the story and wonders: why did the woman always have to wait? Why did being good mean obeying? And why did having character come with a villain soundtrack? After I became a woman, I no longer believed or wanted to look like the woman I was taught that I should be like in fairy tales with princesses. I just want to look like myself.
Without apologizing for having a voice, for making decisions, for changing my mind, for living alone, for falling in love or for deciding to leave the prince because he really doesn't meet our expectations.
Nowadays I can tell you with certainty that there is a problem when getting a prince Charming, as the years pass they change color. From Prince Charming the metamorphosis turns them into green old men... Lol
To grow up is to understand that the crown was never the prize. The real prize was to regain the right to write the short story. And colorín colorado, that story is over. It had to be said and it was said!!
