Where a True Friendship Begins

Hello, dear @ladiesofhive community.

For a long time, I have heard people say that genuine friendships between women are difficult to find or maintain. However, I have never believed that this is a universal truth.

Like any human relationship, I have met people who were only part of one stage of my life and others who, without either of us planning it, became very important to me.

Over the years, I have learned that friendship is not measured by how long it has lasted, but by the quality of the moments shared and the peace of mind that comes from knowing someone will be there when you truly need them.

1️⃣ Has this belief influenced the way you relate to other women? What have you learned to value most in female friendship?

I can't say that this belief has influenced me very much.

I have always preferred to know people for who they are rather than for the ideas others have about them.

Throughout my life I have had classmates, coworkers, and neighbors with very different personalities. With some, the relationship remained friendly but distant. With others, trust grew little by little until it became a genuine friendship.

What I value most in female friendship is sincerity, respect, and the ability to genuinely celebrate another woman's achievements.

I also appreciate those who can tell the truth with kindness when necessary, because a good friend is not always the one who agrees with us, but the one who helps us grow.

Building a friendship takes time, trust, and many small gestures repeated over the years. I don't believe there are shortcuts for that.

2️⃣ Tell us about a memorable friendship experience.

When I joined the department where I currently work, almost everything was new to me.

There was a group of people who had been there much longer, while I was still trying to learn how everything worked.

During my first days, one coworker started doing something that might have seemed insignificant to many people.

She always saved me a seat whenever the team got together for lunch.

If someone explained a work procedure too quickly and noticed that I hadn't fully understood it, she would later come over and explain it calmly.

She was also the person who gradually introduced me to the rest of the team, helping me stop feeling like the newcomer who barely knew anyone.

She never made a big deal about helping me.

She simply acted with a natural kindness that made adapting much easier.

As the months passed, I realized those gestures were much more than simple courtesy.

They were the beginning of a friendship.

That experience changed the way I see human relationships.

I realized that great friendships do not always begin with deep conversations or extraordinary moments.

Very often, they begin when someone decides to save you a seat at the table, spend a few minutes explaining something, or make you feel that you already belong without waiting for you to ask.

And I believe those small gestures are what, over time, build the strongest bonds.

The best friendships don't always arrive with great fanfare.

Sometimes they begin with an empty chair that someone decided to save just for you.

Thank you for reading.

Our perceptions about various concepts, including friendships, can truly be influenced by many external factors. But you always choose to ignore them and instead know people for whom they really are. That is true power, and it signals the presence of an unbiased sense of judgment.

The kind gestures from your friend in different scenarios is like adding a drop of water to a cup everyday, and one day you realize it's overflowing. That's how meaningful friendship should be, and I dare say you are super lucky to have a great one.❤️

Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment.

I really loved your comparison of the glass being filled one drop at a time because I believe that's exactly how the most genuine friendships are built. They usually don't begin with one big moment, but with many small acts of kindness that gradually create a very special bond.

I also believe that getting to know people without being guided by preconceived ideas gives us the opportunity to discover truly meaningful relationships.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful reflection. Sending you a warm hug. ❤️

You're welcome, sis! I'm happy to know you understood the value of the inference I made. I wish you a lovely day.🤗

The example you describe—of what you thought was a simple act of courtesy that blossomed into a great friendship—is truly valuable; as you say, it marks the beginning of building stronger bonds. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
