While the history of paddle wheel vessels extends to ancient Rome, it wasn't until the steam era in the 1800s that paddle steamers gained momentum. Having left its mark on maritime history, the paddlewheel boat is now a historical curiosity and tourist attraction.

They do have a rich history in the PNW. There is at least one of those still active on the Columbia River in the Gorge. Maybe one on the Willamette river in Portland, OR too.

I think I've seen photos from Oregon. Development in this area seems to coincide with the Steam age. There are a few vessels around here that take visitors to various points along the coast. I've been meaning to get on this particular one, so I'll have to investigate further :D

It's about time.

History still holds many secrets.

Such a nice piece of history. It's good to remember about the past.

I like the look of the ship against the modern buildings in the background.

It's really a good contrast.

It's always fun to explore the history of some countries

Absolutely true.

Yeah 😊
