Yesterday, I opened Ecency to read the latest posts from Hiveians. One post on the homepage caught my attention. After reading it, I felt I had to do something.
Right away.
I didn’t expect that reading @dojeda’s story about the difficulties her family is facing would leave such a deep impression on me. At first, I thought I’d be reading about why she hasn’t been very active on Hive. The more I read, the more I realized she was going through something incredibly difficult.
In her post, she shared that her younger sister (who is also a Hiveian) was diagnosed with brain cancer a year ago. The cancer has spread to the point where she has lost her sight.
“but financially, things are very difficult. We’ve held various raffles to benefit her, and thank God, we’ve received a lot of support!” @dojeda 2026
Dojeda and her family have gone to great lengths to pay for her younger sister’s medical treatment. She’s also been actively participating in Hive as an outlet to clear her mind and to earn extra income to help cover her sister’s medical expenses.
What’s interesting is that I don’t even know Dojeda personally. In fact, yesterday was the first time I read her post. We just happened to cross paths online because her post appeared on my ecency homepage.
This made me realize that Hive isn’t just an ordinary writing platform. The community within it goes far beyond that.
A few years ago, I read about the Silver Gold Stackers community raising funds to help one of their members who was going through a difficult time.
Currently, @bulliontools is also running a raffle to help @fonestreet repair his home, which was damaged by a natural disaster.
Doesn’t all of this show that the Hive community transcends national borders and even continents in the spirit of humanity to help one another?
Behind every Hive username lies hope, a family, and the struggles they’re facing.
I realize I can’t yet provide significant financial assistance to Dojeda. However, there’s still something I can offer her.
That’s why I’ve decided to give 100% of the beneficiary from this post to her. I don’t know how much reward this post will generate. Even if the amount isn’t large, I hope it can still help.
I may not be able to change her family’s situation on my own. But if many people do a little bit, the result can be something truly meaningful.
