Heat Wave in the city

in Ecency10 hours ago

Temperatures have been hot in Chicago, making it rather unpleasant to be outside and there is less activity on the city sidewalks than usual.

But dogs still need to be taken out, forcing their owners to leave their air conditioned comfort.

Despite the scorching hot temperatures, flowers are blooming beautifully. They will appreciate the rain from the thunderstorms that are predicted for this afternoon

This building houses the very unique Chicago Magic Lounge theater and the butterflies are a poetic nod to the magic of transformation.

Top: Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) – Instantly recognizable by its bright yellow wings and bold black tiger stripes.
Middle Left: Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) – Known for its stunning iridescent blue-black wings, mimicking distasteful swallowtails to keep predators at bay.
Middle Right: Spicebush Swallowtail (Papilio troilus) or Black Swallowtail (Papilio joanae) – Sporting those elegant, dark velvety wings with a lovely sweep of blue and pale spots along the edges.
Bottom Left: Monarch (Danaus plexippus) – The classic king of the garden, featuring its unmistakable brilliant orange and black stained-glass pattern.

Notice the little green caterpillar over the window keeping watch over the bike station and all the summer shadows!

Except for the sculpture in front of The Chicago Park Districts gymnastic center which is titled "Balancing Act" by Chicago-based artist John Adduci, the neighborhood was quiet

I really love the butterflies in the building. It looks so appealing. 🥰😍

Pets always have a unique way of getting their owners to come outside and keep them company, and that never fails to make the owner happy. It reminds me of my cat, who passed away a long time ago. The blooming flowers seem to be lifting the spirits of the people outdoors.

The heat came to us on Monday, too.
But I guess you and I have a different concept of heat. For me, +27 Celsius is already hot.

All week, when it rained, my dog slept right on the sand outdoors. Today I see her hiding from the Sun in her kennel.

+36 C here. You would melt 😁

Oh, my God! I'm going to die from this heat. You can't live in a city at this temperature. Asphalt will additionally fry from below!

Our new office doesn't have air conditioning, so I try to work remotely from home.

A beautiful city to enjoy in the summer. Have a great day.

Poor dogs

Hope it rains soon there...

Take care …

Stay cool and out of that heat! What beautiful shots of the building there in the area near your kid's place in Chicago. There are some really nice places in the city!

36°C in the city sounds exhausting! I don't blame people for staying indoors. At least the flowers are still putting on a beautiful show despite the heat.
