Temperatures have been hot in Chicago, making it rather unpleasant to be outside and there is less activity on the city sidewalks than usual.

Despite the scorching hot temperatures, flowers are blooming beautifully. They will appreciate the rain from the thunderstorms that are predicted for this afternoon
This building houses the very unique Chicago Magic Lounge theater and the butterflies are a poetic nod to the magic of transformation.
Top: Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) – Instantly recognizable by its bright yellow wings and bold black tiger stripes.
Middle Left: Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) – Known for its stunning iridescent blue-black wings, mimicking distasteful swallowtails to keep predators at bay.
Middle Right: Spicebush Swallowtail (Papilio troilus) or Black Swallowtail (Papilio joanae) – Sporting those elegant, dark velvety wings with a lovely sweep of blue and pale spots along the edges.
Bottom Left: Monarch (Danaus plexippus) – The classic king of the garden, featuring its unmistakable brilliant orange and black stained-glass pattern.
Notice the little green caterpillar over the window keeping watch over the bike station and all the summer shadows!
