So from what I understand, you only get ecency points when using the mobile app and not from the browser. I personally am just using all the HBD that I earn to get delegations to grow my account that way.

No, you earn Ecency points from using Ecency, doesn't matter if you're using web or app, you always earn ecency points. I only mention the app because I don't have a PC so it's more comfortable for me to use the mobile app.

Based on the price you pay you will get it filled sooner or later. In the dashboard you can see your leases and how far along they are. If the one who delegates doesn't manually take it back after the period is over, it stays in place so you basically can get some for free after the period is over if you are lucky (curreltly I have active leases for around 2570 HP while I''m getting 1000 more for free). A big part of the cost is basically paid back by curation rewards, so you very cheaply should get the benefits of getting noticed more as your upvote grows and get way more back over time than what it costs. So at the right price it's a no-brainer if you are active on Hive and want to grow.

Indeed, I saw you managed to already make it work by offering a good ROI. It's not always easy to get a delegation filled at a reasonable price and if more users try this strategy the harder it will likely get. That said, you should see your curation reward % go up with a higher upvote (https://hivestats.io/@okarun) to 8%+.
From what I understand, there is a threshold on Hive post payouts lower that 0.02$ get burned. So if you were to upvote a comment and the user doesn't use a service like @dustsweeper (which you should do) if will have been a waste of an upvote and lower your curation rewards. Also, upvotes under the threshold don't get shown in the mentions (at least on Hive.blog) which makes it harder to get noticed.
That's why I aim to have at least around 3000 HP leased. Especially if you are active on Hive and if you want to grow, Leasing some HP should really be beneficial.

Your advice was very helpful. I tried to get a delegation without really know what I was doing and I got it haha.
Now I'm trying to get some swap.hive to try to get more delegations like that.

Putting in somewhat lower offers eventually tend to get taken up but it can take a while. The last one now took ma around 5 days before someone filled it at below 9%. Good luck, I hope it works out and gets you growing on Hive a lot faster!
