No there are 2 sisters, one is jealous of the other sister's bf, because she thinks the guy will take her (her sister) away.

Lol those are fun, but they are very unrealistic as conflict usually gets ignored or it gets resolved on a very friendly manner.
Usually harem animes are inspired by romantic RPGs (role playing games) where the user has different ways to conquer each girls, that's why in the animation, writers build harem worlds so they can give the different ways the MC get to all the girls.
I think they are inspired by old traditions where men had concubines or mistresses š„²
