We live in modern, digital times, but full of uncertainties. As I wrote in a previous publication: the silence of the gods in a world without certainties.
I would add to that: "The deafness of a people with faith in nothing but their own need for control [which they cannot satisfy]." In essence, every elected authoritarian is the manifestation of people's desire for security, usually defined in terms of controlling society and the world to their liking ... that high need for control.
