Attempt to Understand Our Feelings Before They Consume us

in Reflections7 months ago

Often, I like to sit with myself and reflect on why people behave the way they do. I'm especially interested in the unconscious motives behind actions. Many people do things and, if you ask them why they’ll simply say, "I don’t know." A good example is those who suffer from OCD but aren't aware of it sometimes they act irrationally without realizing it.

This led me to think more deeply about people's intentions and the root of actions. I started wondering that do people dislike seeing others succeed or do well? Of course it’s natural to feel competitive in similar fields but what about when you see a stranger driving a luxury car? Why would someone dislike that person or envy their wealth?

I realized that deep down there’s often an unconscious belief that everything in life should be shared equally. So, when someone sees a car worth $50,000 they may feel without realizing it that they deserve a portion of that, and that the other person took more than their fair share. This thinking isn’t always intentional but through my own self-reflection I noticed I’ve had similar feelings before.

Nowadays, I think envy and resentment have filled many hearts. But the question is does this change anything? When I sit with myself and think clearly I realize that negative feelings that don’t lead to positive action are just a waste of energy and emotion and you just waste your time also in things that can't be changed.

The solution that I believe is to look at others with compassion and kindness not for their sake but for your own mental peace. When your heart is clean and your mind is focused so you can invest your time and energy into something meaningful. It’s better to think in ways that serve your growth not feed your ego.

And finally search within yourself and you'll find something special a strength or talent that sets you apart. All you need to do is discover it and keep developing it so you don't trap yourself in that negative mindset.
