Procrastination: The Silent Enemy That Kills My Time

in Reflections10 months ago

Procrastination is very difficult in professional life, especially these days when time flies by like a train and people around you are rushing. Therefore, procrastination can cause you to miss many opportunities that might be available to others, but won't be available to you if you're late.

In fact, I suffer greatly from wasting time and procrastination. I even stopped posting and interacting on Hive for a while. This is because when I'm late for a day or two, it's almost like a habit. I continue, just like when I complete something for several days, I'm motivated to keep going.

On the other hand, when I take a few days off from work or doing something routine, I continue to take a break from that task as well. So, I found a way to stop procrastinating and motivate myself to keep going. I used to tell myself that it wasn't worth writing and blogging, and I would sometimes make fun of people posting Sticky Notes or saying I deleted my social media apps.

But I found I had to do it because the main reason I procrastinate is my preoccupation with social media, which takes up a lot of time, or should I say steals your time without you realizing it. So, I decided when I start work or attend a course, to leave my phone in another room until I finish what I'm doing.

Another reason I procrastinate is that I don't have anyone to monitor me or that I don't feel guilty. So, I decided to do something else: write down what I want to do that day on a piece of paper with a pen, not on my phone, so that I can make that piece of paper my supervisor. If I see empty spaces for a day, I feel guilty and fill them in, even if I'm pressuring myself to complete two days' worth of tasks on a given day.
