The Prison of Routine: Between the Illusion of Safety and the Call of Creativity

in Reflections18 hours ago

The repetitive pattern we live in today comes from the reality we’re surrounded by one that has almost threatened our existence. A life that was originally built on creativity, innovation, and constant change. Since ancient times, humans have been used to moving from farmlands to the wilderness then to the banks of rivers. But now we’re stuck between four walls and our daily routine has become really hard to deal with.

One of the hardest feelings is when time keeps passing, and you feel like you're standing still. Do you ever feel like you’re chained up in a prison you can’t escape from? While in reality, you’re free but your mind has built a prison out of your thoughts and your routine. That’s why you need to think because thinking is the only way out of any crisis.

Lack of motivation and passion might be the main reasons we’ve ended up in this situation. We live in a time where everyone is rushing to get what they want, sometimes even stepping on others to get there. Some are already on fast moving trains, others are flying in planes while you’re still riding a bike just looking up, unable to do anything. This creates a lot of frustration, especially because we’ve set goals and want to achieve them quickly and That pressure brings disappointment.

The fear of change also plays a big role as many people feel safe in their routine. The mind gets used to it and feels protected by it. You wake up, eat breakfast, then lunch, then dinner. You live a typical life waiting for your salary at the end of the month. It’s a life that seems easy and comfortable but It gives you the feeling of safety a kind of security that people think will save them.

But in the end, you need creativity and innovation because they are the real fuel that keeps a human going in this life. Routine can help sometimes but it won’t help forever. After a while you start to feel bored and frustrated. You feel useless and I once read that one of the things that makes humans different from other creatures is the desire to be useful and that’s one of the reasons why feeling useful gives you a sense of success and happiness in life. Just like survival you seek to and it’s important to feel achievement even the results show in the long run.
