I believe that we are currently living in the age of information, but I can also add that we are living in the age of comparisons. We have reached a very difficult stage where everyone constantly compares themselves to others. With the rise of social media and the internet, these comparisons have literally become international. We no longer just compare ourselves to people in our own community or those around us but now we compare ourselves to people in other countries as well.
We need to stop doing this. We also need to realize that everything in life is not tied to other people, and that each person has their own life that they should live. Trying to be a better person is not wrong, but comparing yourself in things that you don’t even believe in, or don’t even want, just to be better than others in that area that is extremely negative.
Comparisons create an atmosphere of negativity and discomfort because they put you under constant pressure and stress to achieve goals that may not actually suit you, or may not even be good for you. But because of these comparisons so you fall into a circle that you didn’t choose yourself. Sometimes big companies and global brands even encourage this, pushing people to compete in things that don’t really matter to them or that are not suitable for their lives.
If you are not convinced about what you want, then you will not be happy when you achieve it and you will not be happy if you are better than others in clothing, or in the things you own like phones or cars. That is why setting goals that truly matter to you, goals that you genuinely want is the only path that makes sense. This is the kind of goal each one of us should carry inside ourselves.
Finally, live your life in your own way, not in the way that others want you to live it. Putting comparisons aside is something we must all do. The age of comparisons we live in has pushed many people to try to reach things by using dishonest methods, and has created a rush where everyone feels they must achieve quickly so they don’t “miss the train.” But in reality, this is not our race and it’s a race that was created for us and not one that we truly chose.
