Do you really listen to yourself, or do you avoid doing that? Or maybe you haven’t even given yourself the chance to sit with yourself and listen to what’s inside your thoughts, your feelings, the good and the bad parts. Few people actually sit with themselves, even for five minutes a day, to reflect and understand the truth of who they’ve become, how their personality has changed without them noticing, and how their behavior has shifted over time.
Honestly, it was a bit difficult for me in the beginning when I tried to sit with myself. At first, I used to avoid it. But when I finally did it, I found that things became much clearer. I was able to see the mistakes I had been making, and I also discovered the good things I should keep doing to improve myself. Even though I didn’t solve all my flaws at once, just knowing some of them helped me understand myself better and feel more in control.
When I reached the point where I could sit with myself every day, even if just for five minutes, and review what I had done during the day or the week, I started asking myself: why do people run away from this? I tried to explore that question and found many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that many people are not happy with their actions. Deep inside, they know they need to change and stop doing certain bad habits but they feel stuck. Maybe they’re afraid of the discomfort that comes with change, or maybe they’ve gotten so used to those habits that they don’t want to let go.
So, sitting with themselves feels like a trial in court that they’re afraid they’ll lose the case but the truth is, what you keep running from is actually the solution. It’s the healing you need, instead of just daily distractions and temporary comfort that don’t really help. Simply reviewing your actions, recognizing what needs to change and replacing a few bad habits with better ones can fill you with positive energy. It can make you feel better in ways you never imagined.
