Hoy, en lunes de costura, paso por aquí para mostrarles este bonito proyecto que, aunque no quedó como yo quería, sí que se me veía bien. Pero primero déjenme desearles que tengan una semana maravillosa, llena de abundancia, fe, amor, creatividad y muchas aventuras que les hagan sus días felices.
Como pueden ver en las imágenes, se trata de una falda en tela de satén, la cual estuve realizando para ponérmela el pasado 31 de diciembre. Mi hija me había regalado en mi cumpleaños esa bonita camisa negra; aunque parece un poco extraña en su diseño, es holgada y con un nudo en la parte de adelante.
Como ya me había hecho un pantalón para ponérmelo para mi cumpleaños, para combinar esta camisa quise hacerme una falda; había visto muchos modelos muy lindos y se me ocurrió comprar una tela en satén. Se veía más elegante, pero no conté con que esta tela era un poco delicada de trabajar y a las carreras más.
Y no solo eso, sino que esta falda me la puse a hacer el 30 en la noche y pasé todo el 31 de diciembre haciéndola. Primero estuve haciendo un patrón básico de cola ancha y luego le estuve haciendo las modificaciones para que me quedara un fruncido en un lado de la cadera.
Yo había comprado un metro y medio de tela; pensé que era suficiente para que me saliera esta falda al sesgo, pero resulta que no me alcanzó y por ahí el primer desafío. Gracias a Dios que sí me alcanzó a colocar el molde delantero y trasero con la tela al hilo.
Marqué y corté en la tela los patrones y luego estuve basteando los costados. Para coser esta parte fue un poco difícil; la tela se arrugaba en la costura, así que cocía y descocía, y lo peor es que, a pesar de que hice el patrón a la medida, la falda la sentía muy ancha.
Así que tuve que descoser y no una ni dos, sino varias veces; acomodaba y seguía quedando ancha. Así que tuve que cortar tela y quería que me quedara bien para poder formar la pretina.
Ya cuando no pude cortar más, hice la pretina y la entretelé. Ah, no, primero fue el cierre, este sí que me dio un gran dolor de cabeza, porque era con cierre invisible y, como les digo, la tela se arrugaba y, para completar, el cierre se quedó trabado. Ya eran las 7 de la noche, todos nos esperaban en casa de mi mamá y yo aún cosiéndome la falda, pero no me di por vencida, descocí el cierre y seguí intentándolo y por fin lo logré, para luego coser la pretina, que fue más fácil.
Agarré el ruedo con el prensatelas de dobladillo y cosí dos veces, ya que a la primera vuelta hubo espacios de tela que no se cosieron bien, pero tampoco me di por vencida y le di una segunda pasada, aunque pensaba que no se podía por los canales del prensatelas. Gracias a Dios que, como la tela es bastante delgada, sí se pudo.
Y bueno, como a las 9 de la noche la falda estaba lista, me eché un buen baño, me vestí, arreglé y salimos pasadas las 10 de la noche de casa para recibir el año nuevo en casa de mi mamá con mi familia.
La verdad es que me quedó un poco ancha; sin embargo, todos decían que me quedaba genial. Ya sé que tengo que mejorar para la próxima, buscar algunas técnicas para que no quede arrugada la costura y comprar más tela para que pueda cortar al sesgo.

Satin skirt, quite a challenge
Greetings and blessings, my dear friends in this lovely community. Today, on Sewing Monday, I'm stopping by to show you this beautiful project which, although it didn't turn out quite as I wanted, did look good on me. But first, let me wish you a wonderful week, full of abundance, faith, love, creativity, and many adventures that will make your days happy.
As you can see in the pictures, this is a satin skirt that I made to wear on 31st December. My daughter had given me this pretty black shirt for my birthday; although it looks a little strange in its design, it is loose-fitting and has a knot at the front.
As she had already made me a pair of trousers to wear for my birthday, I wanted to make myself a skirt to go with this shirt. I had seen many beautiful designs and decided to buy some satin fabric. It looked more elegant, but I didn't realise that this fabric was a bit delicate to work with, especially when I was in a hurry.
Not only that, but I started making this skirt on the night of the 30th and spent the whole of 31 December making it. First, I made a basic wide-tail pattern and then I made modifications so that it would be gathered on one side of the hip.
I had bought a metre and a half of fabric; I thought it would be enough for this bias skirt, but it turned out that I didn't have enough, and that was the first challenge. Thank God I did have enough to place the front and back patterns on the fabric.
I marked and cut the patterns on the fabric and then basted the sides. Sewing this part was a bit difficult; the fabric wrinkled at the seam, so I sewed and unpicked, and the worst thing was that, even though I made the pattern to measure, the skirt felt too wide.
So I had to unpick it, not once or twice, but several times; I adjusted it and it was still too wide. So I had to cut some fabric, and I wanted it to fit well so I could form the waistband.
When I couldn't cut any more, I made the waistband and interfaced it. Oh no, first it was the zip, which really gave me a headache because it was an invisible zip and, as I said, the fabric wrinkled and, to top it all off, the zip got stuck. It was already 7 o'clock in the evening, everyone was waiting for us at my mum's house and I was still sewing my skirt, but I didn't give up. I unpicked the zip and kept trying until I finally managed it, then I sewed the waistband, which was easier.
I grabbed the hem with the hem presser foot and sewed it twice, because the first time there were gaps in the fabric that weren't sewn properly, but I didn't give up and went over it a second time, even though I thought it wouldn't work because of the channels in the presser foot. Thank God that, as the fabric is quite thin, it did work.
Well, at around 9 pm the skirt was ready, so I took a nice bath, got dressed, did my hair and make-up, and we left the house after 10 pm to celebrate New Year's Eve at my mother's house with my family.
The truth is that it was a little loose on me, but everyone said it looked great. I know I have to improve for next time, find some techniques to prevent the seam from wrinkling, and buy more fabric so I can cut on the bias.
