Knitted cat collar | Tutorial [Eng-Esp]

Greetings, fellow craft lovers! Welcome back to my workshop @bricolajedc. Today, I’d love to show you how to make a cat collar using Chinese thread. Join me, and I’ll walk you through the process step by step.

Materials

1-millimeter Chinese thread in 2 colors
3 centimeters of stainless steel chain
1 jump ring
2 beads
Cotton stuffing
1 medium parrot beak
1 heart-shaped letter
Plastic bell
6 centimeters of felt fabric
Thread
Needle
Scissors
Paper tape

Start by taking the fabric and cutting it into a circle. Sew a running stitch along the edge of the circle. Insert the bell and the stuffing, then pull the seam tight to create a cute plush bell.

Comenzamos tomando la tela y cortarla en círculo. Hacemos una costura de punto corredizo en el borde del círculo. Vamos a introducir el cascabel y el relleno para apretar la costura y tener un lindo cascabel de felpa.

Once you have the little bell, attach it to one end of the chain.

Después de tener la bolita de cascabel, unimos a un extremo de la cadena.

Take the parrot beak and place 20 centimeters of single-color Chinese thread directly onto the fabric; I chose white as the base color. You can use a lark’s head knot.

Tomamos el pico de loro y directamente en el hojal vamos a colocar 20 centímetros de hilo chino de un color, yo seleccioné el color blanco como base. Podemos utilizar un nudo Alondra.

Once we've attached the base string to the parrot's beak, we'll secure it to a flat surface with a piece of masking tape.

Una vez que tenemos el hilo de base sujeto al pico de loro, vamos a fijar en una superficie plana con un trozo de cinta de papel.

Using 50 centimeters of yarn in the same color as the base, we’re going to make a chain of flat knots.

Con 50 centímetros de hilo, del mismo color de la base, vamos a hacer una cadena de nudos planos.

On the same piece of fabric for the parrot's beak, we will insert two strands of Chinese thread in a color different from the base thread. Secure them with a lark's head knot, then work a chain of slip knots along each strand until the length reaches 5.5 centimeters.

En el mismo hojal del pico de loro vamos a insertar 2 hebras de hilo chino de otro color diferente al hilo de base. Con un nudo alondra aseguramos y hacemos una cadeneta de nudos planos en cada uno de los hilos hasta completar 5 centímetros y medio.

Once we have the three strands woven together, we’ll make the center section. We’ll do this by tying flat knots with all the strands from the side chains.

Una vez que tenemos las 3 hebras tejidas, vamos a hacer el tejido central. Haciendo nudos planos con todas las hebras de las cadenas de los lados.

The total length of the necklace is 14 centimeters. I decided to place a heart with the letter C between two gold beads; the name of the kitten who owns this necklace is Cookie. You can also spell out her full name using colored letters.

Completamos 14 centímetros de tejido total del collar. Quise colocar un corazón con la letra C entre 2 balines dorados, el nombre de la gatita dueña de este collar tiene es Cookie, también se puede colocar el nombre completo con letras de colores.

We need a 19-centimeter necklace and the clasp. The chain will give you a little extra length in case you want to wear the necklace looser.

Necesitamos 19 centímetros de collar y el broche. La cadena le dará un poco más de espacio por si se quiere dejar más suelto el collar.

We've attached a ring in case you want to attach a nameplate.

Colocamos una argolla por si se quiere colocar una placa.

We attach the chain and bell we made earlier to the base thread.

Sujetamos la cadena y el cascabel que hicimos anteriormente en el hilo de base.

We finish by crocheting 3 chains of slip stitches, just like at the beginning, until the piece measures 21 centimeters.

Terminamos tejiendo 3 cadenas de nudos planos, igual que al principio. Hasta alcanzar un largo de 21 centímetros.

And that’s how we finish this delicate, pretty, simple, and very practical cat collar.

I loved this project. I loved the idea of being able to decorate and personalize the collars. I also thought about using different colors to suit the tastes of the owners and their furry friends.
