RE: Did I Overdid Things?

I think that being a parent has to evolve as our children grow. When they are young they absolutely need our full protection, but as they grow we have to teach them how to become independent and also slowly step back to let them find their own way and make their own choices, even if they aren't always the right ones. We have to reach a balance of letting them know that they are allowed to live their own lives, but also letting them know that no matter what, we will still always be there for them. Even then, they will likely still feel like we are judging them, especially when they make mistakes.

I feel like your daughter is very aware that she's made a mistake and will likely be feeling guilty that you have been dragged into that. She will probably feel like you blame her for that too, even if you don't. Perhaps just leaving her a message that you won't push things, but are there when she's ready might be the best thing to do at this point.
