It's been awhile since I last wrote a post, and to tell you the truth, I have been dealing with a lot or maybe a lot has been dealing with me. I have written in some of my previous posts about the pain I was experiencing on my lower back down to my left leg, which has been very difficult for me to manage.
On the last week of May I got fundings to get proper treatment at a specialist hospital which I have successfully completed after three weeks of back and forth from the hospital. Now I am on a journey of total healing which seems like it's not coming through even after carefully following up with the medical prescription given to me by my doctor.
Sometimes medicine acts funny in the way they works in the body for the ailments they were intended to cure. After taking medication for two weeks, as prescribed by the doctor, I was hoping to see all the pains gone, but that didn't happen, only that the pains were reduced a bit and I felt disappointed considering the amount of money I spent for the treatment exercise.
Having done x-ray and the cause was established, I expected that the prescribed medicine would deal with it and I would never feel any pain henceforth, so the frustration was there when after going through the treatment I was still feeling pains. But then, I told myself I have had enough of medicine when I was tempted to go buy extra medicine after the two weeks prescription from the doctor was completed and I was still feeling pains.
I told myself I won't take any medicine anymore, instead, I decided to adopt a new approach to recovery. I started a walk out routine every morning to exercise my body and keep my legs stronger. To help me keep to the routine, I downloaded a step counter app that also rewards users. I started noticing changes on my body after three days of working out. The pain I usually feel whenever I woke up in the morning started getting lesser, same with the pain on my back. By the fifth day I could noticed great relief and no more pain on my legs.
The doctor has told me not to do any work that involves lifting heavy weight or bending over to do farm work. However, I couldn't keep myself from that. I am not an old man, at 40s I wouldn't think of living like that. I didn't keep to it, I worked on my garden and cleared the weeds. Although I felt pains after the job, it didn't make the condtion worse, but rather it felt like an exercise and medicine to my body.
I guess the medicine I took was waiting for me to stretch my body before it works as intended. I am getting better each day and I am keeping to my daily work out routine without any further medication. I am beginning to see things differently now, maybe the medicine needed me to help it works by staying active and exercising my body instead of just sitting all day waiting for the pills to do the work.
Right now, I can't say I am completely healed but I am on the right path and getting better each day. I have chosen to stay committed to the daily work out routine and I believe by keeping to it I will eventually achieve complete healing and recover fully from the pain that has held me back so much.
This journey has taught me that healing is a gradual process, and sometimes the cure requires more than medicine. Efforts and patience plus the willingness to take action are part of the process.
