Today was a really special day for me in Splinterlands game. Because today I purchased a new powerful card — Thraghün. The card is Orc-type and has some abilities that have added a new power my battle line. As soon as I got the card, I felt like I could do something different this time. So without further ado I went straight Modern Ranked Battle I won a great victory there.

Thraghün Card Strengths and Features

Reach Ability — It can attack even if the card in front is behind it.

Opportunity Ability — It targets and attacks cards with low health first.

Combined with these two abilities, Thraghün can really launch great attacks in battle. I had someone on my team who would stand in front to absorb damage, and Thraghün would target from behind and quickly remove the enemy's weak cards—that's exactly what happened.

Preparation before battle

Before entering battle, the game gave me 38 mana. The more mana, the more I could build a heavier and stronger team. I knew before the match that the opponent would use Earth Splinter. Earth Splinter usually uses high-health cards, and some cards have stuns or big attacks, so I had to prepare accordingly.

I had a strong tank in the front of my team, with good armor and health. Right behind him was my newly acquired Thraghün, and in the third row were magic and support cards. Overall, my team was balanced—strong cards to take damage in the front and two types of damage dealers to attack from behind.

The beginning battle and the first round

From the first round it was clear that opponent would not give up easily. Their Lion type card in front was quite strong and had high armor. However, my team's plan was correct. The card in front was holding back the enemy's attacks, and Thraghün from behind started targeting and hitting their team's low-health cards.

Due to the Opportunity ability, the two low-health cards in the back of the enemy team went out of the field in the first two rounds. As I watched the battle, I realized that this new card of mine today was really a game-changer for my team.

Mid-range fight - turning point

The third and fourth rounds were when the match started to turn. Although my tank card's health had decreased a bit, Thraghün was still fully active. The speed card in the opponent's mid-row was a bit of a concern for me. Because if it had survived, the cards behind me would have been at risk.

• But here Thraghün showed his role again. With the help Opportunity ability, he targeted and removed enemys speed card, which slowed down their attack speed throughout battle. By middle match it was clear that my chances winning were increasing day by day.*

Last Round – Sure Victory

In the last rounds, only two cards were left on the opposing team, but they could not stand against Thraghün's power. The tank in front of me was still alive, and Thraghün and the other magic card were constantly attacking from behind.

Finally in the 11th round opponents last card was forced leave field. The screen flashed in a big way—
VICTORY!

With the victory, I got +20 rating, +105 magic shards and +0.111 SPS. In addition Daily Challenge Reward was unlocked. All in all this match was not only enjoyable for me, but also made my decision buy a new card a success.

How worthwhile was buying a new card?

Today's battle proved that buying Thraghün was really profitable for me. The card is strong in attack, and although it costs special mana to play, it is great in opportunities where more mana is available—like this match—.

After adding it to the team, I got the following benefits:

Longer survival due to more health and armor

Today match is not just a win for me it is a new experience. The feeling winning my first battle with new card in my collection is really great in Splinterlands. Thraghün's power has given me more confidence, and has inspired me to build a better team in the future.
