Are you tired of losing to the combo of Rage and Nidhoggr, well this is the time to design a card that could counter it. Have a combo that you like but feel like it’s missing something, nows the time to create that something. Got an idea that’s just plain silly, lets run with it.
Design a card that fits into the current modern set
To have fully designed a card you must do the following
pick a rarity of card
Outlined it’s starting mana cost, speed, health, and splinter(s) or if it's neutral.
Show what abilities it has and gains as it levels.
Lore -> Have fun with this. Come up with a short backstory considering how they fit into the world. What side of the current strife are they on?
Artwork - Describe what the character looks like, do the best you can even if it's a stick person. AI is a negative since an eventual goal is to have this become a card.
In a paragraph or so compare it to other cards to show you’ve thought through these aspects of levelling. There’s a very clear pattern to how cards level up in Splinterlands and when they tend to get new abilities that greatly increase their usability.
Consider what current strategies and combos it’d work with and against. How does it fit in or disrupt the current most common strategies?
Judging
Judging will be based on how well the card is balanced. A card with 5 attack, 35 health, 9 speed and blast should not cost 4 mana and be common, nor should a 1 attack, 1 health funny little guy cost 8 mana and be epic.
It will also be based on how well the cards leveling matches the way other cards level up.
Key points
- Your card should not be to similar to any existing cards.
- Your card should not be over powered compared to all other cards.
- Cards which are just upgraded or downgraded versions of other cards(such as Oshannus unmade) are discouraged unless you do something really cool with them.
Rewards
Those cards which are chosen are added to a special community card set with winners getting a black foil version of their card and a small cut of the earnings from the card drop.
Afterthoughts
The idea of this contest is to involve the community in creating a card set and get unique and interesting ideas that might not have occurred within the splinterlands team. I don't actually no how feasible creating a community made card set is or if more conventional rewards of card packs is a better idea. I know that I personally would be beyond pleased if something I designed ended up in Splitnerlands.
