Most of your that enjoy the Splinterlands game know there is a new mode called Frontier that can be played in addition to Modern, Wild and Survival. It was developed to improve the "New User" experience.
The cool thing about this play mode is that even if you are a seasoned Splinterlands player you can still participate but there is a catch. You must have cards from the Frontier collections.
New Players Welcome
Let's say you have never played Splinterlands. In this case, you would not have any Frontier cards to use in matches. To solve this and to learn the basics of match play, you would need to click on "Play" on the top left of the screen in the menu bar and select "Campaign".
The cards you receive during this tutorial will be "Soulbound" to your account. This means you would not be able to transfer or sell those specific cards. However that would not prevent you from playing matches in the Frontier Mode and earning additional Frontier cards that are not "Soulbound".
Win 5 Matches Get Rewards
As you can tell, I am just starting out in Frontier mode and at the very bottom of the tiers. Bronze III to be exact with 300 points after my 5th win. I lost quite a few matches before winning my 5th match.
The good part about winning 5 matches is that you are able to claim some rewards. It is not very fun losing as many matches as I did but I do love to claim some rewards (bottom left).
There is a timer just above the claim button. Please be aware that you will need to claim any rewards you have won during the day before that timer hits zero otherwise you will lose any rewards you may have earned. Mine resets at 0 UTC time (7 pm CST in the USA).
Card and Draw Ticket
Since I am just starting out in tier Bronze III, I received two reward chests to open.
I recommend if you have potions to use them when opening reward chests to get extra chance of getting Gold or Legendary Cards.
I was overly pleased when opening these reward chests. Since there are two chests, I will receive one card and one draw ticket. I was extremely lucky to receive a Gold card when the first chest was opened.
Hit Gold
It is rare to get a Gold card when only opening one chest. I actually thought it was impossible but I guess I proved myself wrong. I received the Gold Port Guardian card.
This card can be used as a tank when using the Water element and is of the common rarity. I will be able to use this card but only at level one since I do not have any leveled up Archons (summoners) at this time. Maybe that can be the next Gold card I win or at least enough single Archons to be able to combine them to the next level. It takes 5 cards to level up to Level 2 so I am very happy to receive this Level 3 card which would have taken 14 copies to combine for a level 3 regular version of the card vs Gold.
Frontier Draw Token
The second chest contained a Frontier Draw Token. This is my first draw ticket this week.
Each week some of teh rarest Foundations cards will be given out in a series of Frontier Draws. At the end of the countdown 76 lucky Battle Mages will receive a random Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, or Black Foil Arcane Foundations Card from the prize pool.
This is the second week of the Frontier draw during the first week I did not win a card but my luck is changing so maybe this week will be my week. One can only hope
