Hello Splinterlands Community It has been a long while since I have touched the game again. There are lot of new cards, game modes and rulesets that were added in the game and I am very much excited to play the game once more and to grow my collections as well. I saw a specific challenge in the Hive community about finding out the Worst Card in the game which I think is very subjective because all cards in the game have their own purposes and it is about finding the right time and right strategy to deploy the cards in the battlefield.

Grand Consul Minion

For me one of the weakest cards that can be used on the modern format is the Grand Consul Minion. This card costs 4 mana and has 1 ranged damage and health while it has 2 speed. Based on my experience on playing the game there are more cards in the game that has 4 mana cost and at the same it has a better initial stats compared to this card. I understand that this card is from the Foundation Set and I know that most of the cards on that set have a high amount of mana cost but I still believe that this card may not be very effective in the match especially when matched against cards from the other sets in the game.
I have also checked the bonus stats it would gain from upgrading the cards and I found out that upgrading this card would only increase its speed and health which is quite underwhelming because it would not unlock any skills and it would not also increase its ranged damage which I think is essential to win the battles.
Favorable Rulesets
Despite being a non-heavy damage unit, Grand Consul Minion can still be utilized on the battles that has limited mana pool available or perhaps it can be used to fill the remaining slots for the team because it has a low mana cost. Additionally, there are rulesets in the game that I think would suit this card in order to make it more effective in the match and I will share those rulesets below.
Even Stevens

The Even Stevens ruleset is a favorable ruleset for Grand Consul Minion because this ruleset only allows cards that has the mana cost of even numbers such as 2,4,6,8,10 and more. This specific rule fits Grand Consul Minion because it has 4 mana cost and based on my experience, matches with this ruleset could be challenging in creating the team composition because the available cards in the match are very limited and in some cases the available mana pool is not enough to deploy all the powerful even mana cost cards in the match and this where Grand Consul Minion could come in as a substitute.
Little League

The Little League ruleset is probably one of the perfect ruleset for Grand Consul Minion because this ruleset only allows cards that has the mana cost of 4 below to be used in the match. This makes Grand Consul Minion a good fit for this type of match as there are only limited cards in the Foundation Set that fits for this ruleset.
Equalizer

The Equalizer ruleset is very favorable for Grand Consul Minion because as I mentioned above this card only has 1 health making it a very fragile card in the match. This would not be an issue if the Equalizer ruleset is present in the match as that ruleset boosts the base health of all the monsters at the start of the match with the highest amount of base health available on the battlefield. This would benefit Grand Consul Minion a lot making it more durable in the match. It is important to place it strategically in the match to make the most of its ranged damage.
Armored Up

The Equalizer ruleset is also a great fit for Grand Consul Minion because this specific ruleset gives 2 armor to all monsters in the battlefield at the beginning of the match. This bonus armor gives Grand Consul Minion additional durability against enemy monsters that deals ranged and melee damage as well as additional protection against enemy monsters that has the opportunity ability. It is also helpful in some battles where the Earthquake ruleset is present in the match as the bonus armor can absorb the initial damage.

My Battle

This is the Modern ranked battle I have where I was able to use Grand Consul Minion to complete my team. The match has the standard ruleset and it has 45 mana pool which is enough for me to deploy all the cards I want to use for this match. Initially I thought I was on the disadvantage because the enemy team has powerful offensive cards in the match but as the rounds progresses I was able to grab the momentum because of the two monsters that has the Taunt ability from my team which proves to be very effective in protecting my main damage threats for this match.

I am also surprised that Grand Consul Minion manages to survive all throughout the match and this card also plays an important role especially at the final moments of the match as the damage it deals to the Cavewise Wayfinder was very helpful in order for my Night Stalker to take it down and secure me this victory.
