Usut: Legendary Death Unit with Bloodlust and Healing

in Splinterlands22 hours ago

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

Usut is a Legendary Death Splinter reward card from the Chaos Legion era in Splinterlands. It is a high mana magic attacker (10 mana) known for having the Bloodlust ability originally possessed by Gladiator cards. It has been revived in the Modern mode due to the Outsider ruleset. I'm glad I kept this card because it's very useful in Earthquake rulesets. In today's post, well look into its lore, stats & abilities and show a battle where it's used effectively.

Lore

Usut, known as the Eater of Death, Lord of Ruin, and The Pestilent, is an ancient red dragon who earned his most feared title: the Undying. After lying dead for three centuries within the Black Glacier of Mortis, he was resurrected by the Lord of Darkness, Lagfael and transformed into an immortal revenant. Now serving as Lagfael's personal reaper, Usut roams the skies of the Splinterlands. He spreads terror with his presence and heralding death. Countless warriors have attempted to destroy him but all have failed. Feared by all who see him, Usut stands as one of the most terrifying undead beings in the Splinterlands.

Stats and Abilities

Usut is a ten mana, legendary Death card. At maxed levels it deals three magic damage, has four armor, eleven health but rather slow with only one speed. It can play in the backline or as a tank owing to its high health, flying and healing abilities. Additionally, it's a great card to play in Earthquake or Noxious Fumes because of those abilities.

My Usut is at level two so I use it mainly in Earthquake rulesets when allowed by Outsider.

Featured Battle

The featured battle has the Outsider and Earthquake rulesets so Usut was immediately on my mind to play. I chose the Frontier archon because he debuffs the enemy by decreasing their health. I had Ujurak Brave in the tank position. He has good defense and Silence ability that debuffs magic attackers. In second position was Usut to serve as secondary tank once the main tank dies. The next two units were both flyers. Shadowfey Shiek was from the Conclave Arcana core set. He deals two magic damage and has the Life Leech ability. The other card is a legendary Frontier card, Little Sister whose magic damage and abilities were similar to Shadowfey Shiek.

The enemy also had the Shadowfey Shiek and Usut in his team but his archon and units were at lower levels. Inspite of having four legendary cards in his team, his units were ill equipped to meet the Earthquake ruleset and lost to my team.

Final Thoughts

Usut is not as dominant as other legendary cards but in the right rulesets like Earthquake and high mana battles, it can become a great trump card. Once it does its first kill and Bloodlust starts stacking, it can quickly snowball into the strongest unit on the battlefield.
