I agree that BTC prices impacts, but recently only one way, because when it went from 60k ath to 118k ath we haven't seem the same happening with some altcoins too... However when it goes down everything follows.

On the other hand the micro also has a share of impact. If in the micro something big happens (sale with discount) that could increase internal demand, it's normal to expect it to go high, a lot of people were thinking that would happen. Instead of happening now, it seems to have happened in january 4th and now it's stable, but dropping a little.
