If I recognize one of my weaknesses, it's that I'm NOT AT ALL SPORTY. I was always the last one picked for teams, or I didn't understand the rules 🙃. Also, I was part of a generation where we were dressed in dresses every afternoon, so I couldn't get them dirty because I would definitely get scolded. In this sense, I never bothered to cultivate or practice any sport or game that I remember having marked my childhood or youth. This led me to another type of game that I love and that has marked my life up to this point: mind games. Ever since I learned to read and write, in addition to the tricks and ruses to win, I have been a difficult competitor to beat 😎🤣.
Stop
It's one of my favorite games because it tests your intelligence, memory, and a lot of creativity, which I have plenty of 😆. I don't know what it's called in other countries, but it consists of saying a letter of the alphabet and then using it to name cities, people, fruits, etc. Each correct answer earns you points, and the person with the most points wins. I've been playing it since I was little. It was one of the games I played most, and I could spend hours writing letters over and over again. Once, I even made a whole sheet with the entire alphabet so I could use it as a reference when playing with other opponents. In this game, losing is not one of my goals 😝. This game awakens creativity and agility in everyone, as well as making us literate because we have to learn words and write them correctly according to spelling rules. What's more, it doesn't involve money or buying anything to play, just a pencil and paper and your mind in all its glory to fill in each box with the requested letter. The mischief begins when we argue because hibiscus is not a fruit or jarapillo is not an animal 🤣. It becomes very fun, frustrating, and anecdotal for everyone who plays and enjoys the moment, without getting upset.
Truco
I could teach a class on this fun game, which is patented by every public university. Writing this post reminded me of my college days, and I regret that I didn't have a camera to capture the moment, but I was an avid truco player, which is not very common for women to do. I was always challenging the system. My older brother taught me how to play. We spent hours devising strategies, tricks, and plays, trying to get the card we needed to win the game and be able to win wherever we went.
This game helped me make many friends and get to know many places “in the underworld,” but when I arrived, they treated me with respect because they were surprised to see a woman playing something like this. In college, playing truco was part of the curriculum 🤣 because “if you didn't play this game, you hadn't been to college,” and I wanted to graduate with honors. Nowadays, I don't play it because I don't know anyone who does, and unfortunately, it is a violent game where cheating and lying are the norm, and no one likes to be treated that way. Also, it's a gambling game, and when someone doesn't want to pay their losses, it can end in fights, so I avoid playing it or teaching it to other people. However, here I have my cards waiting to be used 🤓:
Dominó
This game is better known, and I play it not because I know strategies or when to “place a piece,” but because of the tranquility and calm with which it is played; I'm no longer up for strong emotions 😉. I've played in pairs, and honestly, I've been lucky, because I definitely don't understand how to guess other people's stones. It's one of the games I avoid the most, because my partners end up getting angry with me, while I'm just there to pass the time.
Pausas activas
¿Cómo juego hoy en día?
Active breaks How do I play nowadays? At work, I have had the opportunity to take active breaks; in fact, it is a requirement due to the type of teaching we do and according to WHO criteria. During these breaks, I can play physical games, because the idea is to get them out of their comfort zone, but as I excel at mental games, I use those to my advantage. I have noticed that at first, people feel uncertain, emotionally shocked, and even resistant, asking questions like, “What does this have to do with the course?” However, once they begin to integrate or their friends start doing the activity, it is easy for everyone to participate. I think these activities connect with our inner child and help us maintain that playfulness, joy, enthusiasm, and teamwork so that we can move forward in other activities.

Hasta una próxima oportunidad 💐.
This post is part of an initiative by our friends at @rcreationalgames and @holoslotus to commemorate World Gaming Day. More information [here] I invite my friends @lisfabian and @doriangel to show us the games or activities they do to take their minds off things 😊. The photographs are part of my digital album. I made the cover, divider, and banner in Canvas. I used DeepL as my translator. Until next time 💐.
