Sometimes you end up having the most interesting conversations with people you wouldn't expect. Everyone says to never judge a book by its cover, and this conversation I had with an employee was another great reminder of this.
Our conversation started with some small talk. He was new to my team, but we'd been in other team huddles before, so we knew each other fairly well. I knew he was into crypto, but I wasn't expecting him to bring up the price of silver. He was theorizing it could go to $200/ounce. I chimed in that we'd probably have a ways to go before then, because the futures markets would raise margin requirements to try and slow it down.
I kid you not, his eyes lit up! He got a grin on his face and said, "Oh, so you're a stacker, too!" I smiled and said yes. We chatted about how I plan to wait for the silver to gold ratio to tighten more and then convert to gold. He talked about a friend who was looking at getting into a mining claim.

Then, I mentioned scrapping for Sterling silver. I explained the premise. He was confused at first when I told him I don't sell for profit. I explained I sell enough to cover the majority of the expenses, send the rest to the refiner and keep the remainder in silver bars as my reward for the time and effort I put into it. You could see the grin on his face and a sort of sparkle in his eyes as he said he'd have to try that in his off time.
Sadly, I had to bring us back around to the business at hand, but it was a fun side conversation. I know there are other stackers where I work, but this is a first where I've had someone on my team open up about it. It was a very fun discussion, and hopefully there will be more opportunities to chat with him about silver in the future.
