Idaho Goldbacks on Pre-Sale

I normally don't follow which new state Goldbacks are coming out, but @thebighigg mentioned they were coming out with Idaho Goldbacks. Seeing as how I'm a resident, I figured I should take a look at them. Whenever Goldbacks are released, they come in multiple increments and each one has its own unique design. They're not practical for stacking, but they are fun to collect!

As you can see, the smaller denominations are relatively inexpensive.

When you start getting into 5 and up in denomination, that's when they start becoming expensive. The higher denominations have some great designs, but I'm just not paying that much. My cutoff is usually at 5, and only if it's a great design.

Here are some closeups of the smaller denomination Goldbacks.

This one has a limited mintage of 3,000 but is vastly overpriced in my opinion.

5 Idaho

The 5 denomination runs about $50. It's a nice design, but not something where I'd want to pay $50 for it. I'll probably buy the 1/4 through 2 and probably stop there.

I haven't seen any new Goldbacks here north of the border since the release of the Florida GB 1/2s and 1s. I'm still looking for the Florida 5 GB, no luck yet.

I'm out of the loop as well. I didn't realize they had released them for Arizona and Oklahoma, so those are on my list now.

I would like some experiential info about Goldbacks.

They would be really nice if they gained recognition status. But, i won't hold my breath

Besides buying, have you done anything else with them?
Do coin shops buy them back easily?

What do you think of their barter-ability in SHTF situations?

Are they just an expensive way to buy an ounce of gold over a long time, with small payments?

I haven't done anything with them at this point. There are some business in my state that accept them, but I only buy a small amount as collector pieces.

I haven't tried selling them to a coin store. I'd imagine they'd be reluctant to buy them, but I think you could sell them easily enough privately.

I think for barter-ability they'd be okay, but I think most would prefer junk silver since it's more easily recognized.

If you're buying these to stack gold then yes, it's going to be expensive in the long run. It'd be cheaper to save up and buy 1/10oz or 1/4oz coins than these.

I'd totally be interested if they came out with one for Michigan. I was just watching a show about Idaho the other day. It looks like a really beautiful state.

Give it time and I think they will. It's just a slow process is my understanding.

Yeah, there's a lot of great outdoor stuff to do here. If you ever visit, let me know and we can meet up for a beer or something!

For sure, will do! It's a big state though from the looks of it. If I ever head that way I will be sure to hit you up for the hits and misses.

I agree, the bigger ones are just too expensive!

I wish they would release the design on multiple denominations, but then I could see from a cost standpoint it wouldn't be practical for them.
