I forgot how much fun it is to scrap Sterling silver. This latest load isn't as glamorous as previous lots, but it'll still end up putting more silver in my stack at a much cheaper price than buying it from a dealer. Let's see what we've got going off to the refiner this time!
There's a good amount of scrap here, so let's do a weigh-in!
Before weighing, it's important to always click the "Tare" button on the scale, so it doesn't factor the weight of the box into your total.
An extra 99 grams of cardboard weight could mess up calculations when it comes time to sell. With that out of the way, let's see how much is being sent off.
Looks like roughly 584 grams will be sent off. The refiner will take their cut, so I expect to get about 14 ounces of silver back from them. They're still quoting a one month turnaround time, but ever since they added a new piece of refining equipment it's only taken them about two weeks. Maybe if I'm lucky spot price will have increased by then!
