My experience, benefits and real-life battle story with the Desolation card I bought in Splinterlands

Those who play Splinterlands regularly know very well—not all cards are created equal. There are some cards that are good to keep in the collection, while there are some cards that give you a different level of confidence when you go into battle. When I bought Desolation card that was exactly how I felt.

My main goal behind buying this card was add a strong long-lasting and adaptable card my collection. After using it for a few days, I can now say with confidence—Desolation is truly a great asset my team.
In this article, I will tell you about the benefits, strengths, practical aspects of this card, and why it has become so important to me.
Why I decided to buy the Desolation card
While playing Splinterlands, I realized that you can't always win matches with just low-manner cards. Sometimes there are rule sets where it is almost impossible to win without a High Mana Monster.
I mainly looked at the Desolation card for three reasons

It is a High Mana, High Impact card
Since it is a Dragon splinter, it can be used in various team combinations
Its abilities become dangerous for the opponent when they work together
I bought the card considering these three aspects.
Overall concept of the Desolation card
Desolation is basically a card that I would call Silent Destroyer. It can change the course of the entire battle without being in front.
When this card is in the team, a different strength is added to my team. Because—
It uses Magic Attack
Even with Armor, the enemy is not safe
Because of Flying, it does not get hit easily
Overall, this is a card that is not only powerful, but also very smartly designed.
Main benefits of Desolation card (according to my experience)
- Magic Attack – the biggest power
Desolation's Magic Attack is its biggest plus point for me. Because Magic Attack directly hits Health. Many times I have seen the opponent enter the field with heavy Armor, but Desolation does not care about that Armor at all and directly deals Damage.
As a result—
Tank weakens quickly
Even with a healer, pressure builds
Momentum is on my side from the beginning of the battle
- Flying Ability – a big reason to survive

Because of Flying Ability, Desolation can avoid many attacks. It works especially well against Melee and Ranged attacks.

In my experience—
It is almost immortal in the Earthquake rule
It lasts longer against melee-heavy teams
It is also safe from the backline
In many matches, I have seen that even when other cards die, Desolation has survived and won the match in the end.
- Scattershot – Breaks the opponent's plans
The Scattershot ability that Desolation gets at high levels is really a game-changer.
Because of this ability—
The attack can hit any enemy
Support cards die quickly
The opponent's team collapses
Sometimes the opponent calculates Tank Heal or Sneak Guard very carefully. Scattershot completely messes up that calculation.
- Affliction – The nightmare of a Heal-based team
Heal-based teams are very popular in Splinterlands at the moment. But if Desolation has the Affliction ability, that Heal often stops completely.
I have seen it myself—
Tank Heal stops working
Triage is no longer useful
Opponents slowly collapse
Desolation is especially effective in Ranked Battles due to this Ability.
- Advantages of being a Dragon Splinter
Since Desolation is a Dragon card, it is even more valuable to me. Because—
Can be used with different Splinters
Gives freedom in choosing Summoner
Can be easily adapted according to the rule set
This flexibility has made my gameplay much easier.
Some of my real-life experiences using Desolation
I have played battles where the match was initially going out of my hands. But with Desolation on the field, the match gradually turned around.
In one match—
The opponent's Tank was very strong
Heal and Support were great
The Tank in front of me died quickly
But Desolation finally stood alone and took down one enemy after another. When the word “Victory” appears on the screen at the last moment, it is really a different kind of joy.
Why I think Desolation is a long-term investment
This card is important not only for today but also for the future. Because—
Even if the meta changes, Magic Damage will always be useful
The High Mana rule will always be there
It has a use in Tournaments and Brawls
I am sure that this card will become even more important in the future.
My personal advice for new players
My advice for those who are new and are thinking about whether to buy Desolation or not—
If you have the budget, it is a good choice
Level up slowly
Learn to use it in the right positions
Play with an understanding rule set
This card will not only help you win matches, but also help you understand game more deeply.
Finally I will say that Desolation has been an important addition my Splinterlands journey. This card has not only given me more wins, but has also increased my interest in game.
Every time I put this card in my team in a battle, I feel a sense of confidence—no matter what the situation, Desolation will somehow impact the match.
I dont regret buying this card at all. In fact, it's one best cards in my collection.
