RE: World of Warcraft - The Addiction

At least you made it out for long enough to write the post. I have never played WoW. I was a community manager locally for another game that Vivendi published - before it became the behemoth known as Activision Blizzard, and one of the perks they offered me was "We'll pay for your WoW sub". I declined. I had work to do.

They did send me a big box of big box PC games, though (which probably dates it) featuring stuff from their back catalogue, and that was such a nice care package on top of the job itself.

I swore I'd never play MMOs, but then along came a friend and Guild Wars, and that's where I probably lost a few thousand hours of my life. Very good and entertaining. I tried to "Reboot" into MMO recently with Final Fantasy XIV, but just couldn't tolerate the gameplay loop.

Yes, I made myself do it this morning.., if only to get a break into reality.

Haha.., that made me laugh, what were they thinking? Trying to find a reason to ditch your services?

I did try it long ago, I found WOW and Everquest more encompassing. The latter did take over my life for a few years. Tried FF Online too, the old one. They are all OK, but some are more OK than others.

Once bitten, thrice shy from my perspective when it comes to MMOs, I much prefer atmospheric immersion sims, old school rpgs with great stories, and rts, these days - the sort of stuff that isn't really made all that much anymore.

I am very slowly (I started 8?) years ago - playing through my Steam library alphabetically. I am somehow still only up to A or C - because I keep adding new games. I need to stop doing that.

Bloodlines 2 is coming, but I fear that will be a disappointment, I look forward to editoriliasing the previews of that in the coming days
