Splinterlands Community Engagement: Path to Power

in Hive Gaming8 hours ago

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and Midnight Letters community! This is my entry to this week's Community Engagement Challenge. In today's post I'll write about my techniques when playing Noxious Fumes. All units start the battle poisoned and takes damage in every turn. There are several ways to play this and I will show how I deal with Noxious Fumes.

1. Outlive Your Opponent with Earth Element

The Noxious Fumes decreases life by two every round. One viable strategy is to have units that heals or one with high life stats. This is where the Earth element is good at. It has notable units that are known for their high life stats. Dread Tafarian can heal and Time Bandit can remove the Poison from him. Giam Root has eleven life and also Strengthen skill adds life to all units. This is the ideal team when playing with Noxious Fumes.

My opponent also chose the Earth element having the same idea as me. I won because of my higher level Giam Root that had more attack than the opponent's.

Another game to better illustrate the strategy. My opponent also had the Earth element in this game but he tried to overwhelm me with his attack rather than be true to the survive strategy of Earth element. He had low life attackers in his team like Vengeful Monk and A'lan Musketeer. Both only have five life stats but are good attackers. I kept true to my strategy and had Giam Root in the team. It adds one life to all units and have huge eleven health.

My units died faster from my opponent's attacks but his units were killed by poison. The higher life of my units helped secure the win for my team.

2. Diminish Your Opponent's Life with Death Element

Another viable strategy is to decrease the opponent's life. This is where the Death element is know for. Death element debuffs certain stats whether attack, speed or health. In the case of the Foundation Death team, there are two cards that decreases the opponent's health. These are the archon, Thalgrimore and Sorrow Harvester. Together, they decrease the opponent's life by two. Factor in the decrease in life caused by poison and the opponent will suffer defeat quickly.

My opponent also used Death. He had a different line up than the one I used. But my units had more life stat that helped them survive.

3. Defeat Your Opponent Quickly with Water Element

Another strategy is go for the attack. Defeat your opponent quickly before they can launch an attack of their own. Water has the highest attack among all the elements because the archon adds +1 magic attack to all units. Fill your team with magic attackers and you can defeat your opponent quickly.

My opponent preferred the Death element strategy. This is a game with competing tactics. I hoped my higher attack will bring me the victory and my opponent depended on the -2 life decrease to my units. It was a close fight with only one unit of mine that survived.

Conclusion

There are more than one way to plan your strategy in games. Like in chess where there are several openings to choose from, so it is in Splinterlands. This is just for Noxious Fumes, there are more rules with many strategies to choose from making each battle unique and challenging.
