I have continued to chip away at Dragon Age: Origins, and it is a lot of fun.
Currently, I'm able to play between 1-2 hours per night when the kids are asleep, although some nights I'm a bit too tired to get on.

The Battle of Ostigar
The visuals in this game are really good, especially considering it is 17 years old... oh god, now that I think about it, this game is 17 years old.
This battle is pretty cool, and it pumped me up. During the story, Darrion and Alister are sent to light the beacon during the battle, to let Loghain (the king's advisor) know when to commit his forces.

Me and Alister
There is instant comic relief from Alister, from the moment he joins my party.
The two of us made our way into the beacon, but there was heavy fighting going on as we arrived, as darkspawn had taken the tower.
We teamed up with a wizard and a night (because the game decided it was unfair to send a 2-party team on a 4-party task.

The Beacons are lit
Sorry, the beacon is lit. I was thinking of that other cool fantasy franchise.
We managed to fulfil our task; it was a tough fight, but we made it. However, once the beacon was lit, a cutscene began, which showed that Loghain pulled his troops out and forced a retreat.
This left the King's army and Grey Wardens to be overrun and killed. Duncan, the man who made Darrion a Grey Warden, was killed, which was pretty sad.
Then Alister and Darrion got overrun, which also made me sad.

We awoke in a strange house
Flemeth, Morrigans' mother, managed to save us by turning into an eagle and... hey, that sounds awfully like something else.
Flemeth is hilarious, and I exhausted all of her dialogue before setting out to continue our mission.
During the conversation here, we found out that pretty much everyone is dead, but we have these seals from many of the major factions in the game, which states that they have to dedicate themselves to the Grey Wardens in order to beat the Dark Spawn.
Off we go, to bring the world together in order to fend off an ancient evil... oh, and Flemeth made us take Morrigan along with us.

Cerberus
Along the road to the nearest town, we encounter this dog that I helped back in Ostigar.
Back around the time this game released, I had a dog named Cerberus, who looked just like this one, apart from the ears.
She was a Bull Mastiff, so I decided to call this dog Cerberus in honour of her.

Lothering
God, you know the place is going to be great if it's called Lothering.
We arrived in town and dealt with some highwaymen extorting people at the entrance. I taught them why it's a bad idea to mess with a Grey Warden, but I let the leader go after the battle, to also teach them that Grey Wardens can be nice.
After walking through the town, we soon realise that there are many here who need help, and we also find out that Loghain is telling lies about the Grey Wardens, pretending that we were the ones who betrayed the king.
Well... now it's personal. No one kills my friends and pretends that I did it.
Loghain, more like Nobrain. When I get my hands on him, I'll rename him to Lotpain (that one doesn't work as well)
