Hey there, Splinterlands warriors! Today, I want to share an exciting experience using a double strike strategy in the Battle of the Day. This isn’t just an ordinary tactic—it’s a game-changer that makes battles more intense and, of course, deadlier for the opponent!
Why Double Strike?
Simply put, monsters that can attack twice in one turn are like having an invisible backup force. Imagine this: while your opponent can only strike once per turn, you’re hitting them twice! More attacks = more damage = faster victory.
Team Formation: Combining Double-Strike Monsters
For this battle, I included three monsters with double-strike potential. Coastal Sentry naturally comes with the Double Strike ability, while Drybone Raider and Tatiana Blade possess two attack types, allowing them to hit enemies twice in a single turn. With this setup, my total attacks per round reached 9, compared to my opponent’s 6 under normal conditions.
However, that didn’t mean my opponent had no chance to turn things around. Their summoner, Possibilus the Wise, provided the Reach and Trample abilities, allowing their melee monsters to land extra attacks if they managed to take down one of mine. If I wasn’t careful, their strategy could easily backfire on me!
Defensive Strategy: Dodge to Avoid Attacks
One of the key factors in this battle was placing a monster with Dodge in the backline. This was crucial since magic monsters were not allowed, meaning the primary attacks were all melee. And as expected, the more my opponent’s attacks missed, the higher my chances of winning.
Several of their strikes completely whiffed against my backline, while I kept landing my hits. But I wasn’t the only one experiencing this effect—when I attacked their Commander Slade, some of my strikes missed too. Fair enough!
One of the most epic moments in this match was the intense backline exchange. With my team delivering more attacks per round, my opponent’s health bars were depleting quickly. Plus, my Deeplurker had the Poison ability, causing enemies to lose extra HP every turn.
As the battle progressed, my opponent’s monsters started falling one by one. With relentless attacks and poison effects stacking up, my team ultimately secured victory!

Conclusion: Lessons from the Double-Strike Strategy
Here are some key takeaways from this battle:
- Double-strike monsters significantly boost team damage output. While the opponent attacks once, you can attack twice—this is a huge advantage!
- Dodge is incredibly useful in melee-only battles. The more your opponent’s attacks miss, the longer you survive.
- A combination of rapid attacks and status effects like Poison can quickly wear down opponents. Don’t just focus on raw damage—damage-over-time effects can be game-changers too.
