I'm not great at starting things from seed. I just chuck it in and hope for the best, which isn't the greatest philosophy! It's late summer here so I've started autumn seeds and they're busting out the soil fast as it's so warm here still (not hot hot, just warm temperate, which is ideal really!)

It is below ZERO C here, sometimes dropping to close to minus 18C
I have my setup in the basement with heat matts, grow lights, and really fluffy loose seed starter. It really does help get seeds started.

You are definitely working against the odds and need all things in your favour!
