I remember clearly...
Some months ago, a friend of mine who owns a clothing business was robbed at night, and every item in her shop was taken away. When she was telling me the story, she mentioned what her mom told her about how being employed is better than owning a business, because if she were employed and the company she works for gets robbed; the effect won't get to her that much compared to when she owns a business, when all the burden will be on her. I sighed when I heard that.
Last week, I had an awful experience in my business, and it's one I won't forget in a hurry.
A new guy came around in a rushing manner and dropped his clothes for me to work on. The manner in which he came was very strange, and I didn't bother to consider some things. I just took in everything and was happy to have gotten a new client.
I washed all the clothes, including the pair of shoes (sneakers) among them.
Where I kept the shoes to dry, the shoes vanished before 6 p.m. that day. I was so shocked. I looked around the area many times to see if I could see it, but nothing was found...it was stolen, or maybe it disappeared. I just didn't know how to categorise the manner at which the shoe left the top of the roof where I kept it because people don't go there or pass there.

Fast forward...
The guy came on Thursday, which was the day he said he would come and get his laundry. I told him about the situation, and just as I expected, he didn't take it lightly, and he really got angry and wanted to beat me up and arrest me. "Beat me up" in the sense that I won't be able to fight back since I was the one at fault. Lol
The matter was intense; I pleaded and pleaded, but the guy was so angry and didn't want to hear anything.
At the end, I was told to pay for the missing shoe, which I also expected, but not in the manner which I expected. I was told to pay 200,000 naira, which is equivalent to $145. Do I have any options? No. I had to sort out money at that moment and paid him.
It was a big loss!
