Do you know why most people will never get capital? Because they have not learnt how to sell themselves.
I have received countless calls from people asking, “Oga, please help me with capital to start my business…”
Each time, I will listen and ask myself if this is a right product to invest in. See eh, nobody owes you capital, you must learn to build it yourself.
Capital is not the first thing you need. You are your first capital. But unfortunately, many have not yet learned it.
We were trained wrongly. We were taught to hustle after money, chase after capital, beg for support from strangers, but nobody taught us this simple truth that …
You don’t ask for money, you attract money.
And how do you attract it?
By learning to sell yourself first through service, trust, and value.
Money does not chase needs, money chases solutions. Capital flows to credibility.
If you don’t have a track record of serving and solving problems, why should anyone give you their hard-earned money?
When I finished my NYC, like many young guys, I had no job. I was interviewed severally and yet no work. Nobody to give me money to start a business or any bank loan.
But instead of sitting at home complaining or waiting for a miracle, I decided to serve with my skills at Mbari for free. No salaries and I showed up everyday like I was paid giant money.
Guess what happened?
The owner of the business center, Mr. Anele Akamadu, seeing my dedication, service and value, started giving me support and started introducing me to his friends.
That free service turned into relationships.
Those relationships turned into opportunities and that was how I met Barr. Anselem Okorie of MDGs and my story changed.
All that income and savings while serving Anselem became the seed of everything I started building in Fashion and Pam tech after 8 years of committed service.
See, service is not slavery; service is strategy. Your reputation is your real currency, and your smart work is your collateral; it’s what people use to judge if you are bankable.
When people trust you, believe you, and see your consistency, capital will flow naturally.
You will not need to shout for help, your service will announce you.
If you are dreaming of big things, listen to me as your brother.
First, discover what you have… a skill, an idea, a passion.
Second, package yourself, present your value with dignity, diligence, and excellence.
Third, serve with everything you have got even when nobody is watching because you are your first product, so, sell it well.
Know that investors don’t invest in paper ideas, they invest in people.
Instead of asking, “Who will give me money?”
Start asking, “Who can I serve? Who can I help? What problems can I solve?”
This mindset shift was the beginning of my journey, and if you make that shift today, it will be the beginning of yours too.
I am a well — doing Fashion Designer and I wish people will get to study and apply this common secret.
Real men with their version aren't ready anymore to invest in paper ideas.
Dear, truly speaking-all my time I have spent around people who are ready to invest, they keep telling me they need to see my ideas in working.
I have it in mind without executing it. Each time I tell them to offer me a help, they turn me down, without letting me feel bad.
They would promise to be of help but would still turn me down, but I realized, they need to see my ideas on the working table.
When I came up, and showed them, I could also provide them with a fashion sense and handle their social media accounts. They all invested, so much in my business, and today I don't chase them around for peanuts…
Even without asking for a return, today, my skills allow me to understand what entrepreneur entails, that it is not just the idea on a paper but the working force behind it.
Many of times we truly don't create the best value for ourselves, giving people the wrong impression about investing in us.
Self investment is a big time entrepreneur opportunity that would bring about the financial benefit.
Selling myself as an entrepreneur, both online and offline, makes the substance runs after me.
Currently, I don't run after frivolous issues that cannot bring about growth in my entrepreneur life.
Making money is effortless at some point, if you fix yourself for the best opportunity. The right customers and patronage is there.
It is left for one to just position his or herself at the right spot of light.
In today's world, inventors want to see your worth in the active format. No one cares anymore about the paper storylines.
No matter how funny the idea is; hence it would bring about self-reliance and patronage, that is the right idea.
Selling our self with the right idea is more than a commodity. It is a great asset which would yield fruits.
Just learn how to sell yourself.

No necesitarás rogar ayuda, tu servicio te anunciará.
Comienza a preguntar: "¿A quién puedo servir? ¿A quién puedo ayudar?
No importa lo divertida o sencilla que sea tu idea;
Solo aprende a venderte a ti mismo.
