Stuck Assets that really Hard to Sell

Hi, I am Arveno from Surabaya city. In this content i want to share about my anxiety. If you follow my content you will understand that recently many people already protest to goverment because they are too corrupt. But luckily it still not become like in Nepal that the goverment dragged down until nothing left. And i dont want to happened either in here. And because of many rules that always burdensome for people especially in taxes. This is my concern and anxiety right now. So, my father having huge land in my hometown. The first one already sold and the money is used for my parents living cost. But, the second one. I dont know why this is not sold yet. Almost more than 10 years waiting but never sold to anyone. Some of my friends asked and helping me selling this land but never sold. I think better selling land in Splinterlands than for selling this Land.

This land kinda huge and can be used for Food court or even restaurant. Or maybe better for Villa or Mini Hotel in there. I dont remember how big exactly. But i think it is 3200m2 i guess. Actually if i have money, i will not selling this place. I'd rather make some kind business or maybe just building some place that instagramable and some kind place for hang out in there and provide some space for food stall. So, i can rent the space for the food stall there. And it can be a great business with this big of land. But, after i calculate building this place from zero. I dont think i am capable to do that. It almost costing 30k$ for building. And yet the return is not certain.

Thats why i always said that to my dad and my mom, this land is like dead assets. Or even worse it can be called as liabilities since every year my parents need to paid taxes for the land and this land never give anything in return. Thats why i said this is not good at all. And even worse, my parents need to split this land and gives to their children. We are 4 brothers, so they need to split it or else after they are dead and the land still not sold, Me as their child need to paid another tax due to inheritance. Thats will cost me huge amount of money. Especially the land price is rising up each year and so the tax. And if i dont have the money, goverment can take it anytime.

If i am not mistaken 8 years ago, some of farmer used it for planting peanuts and some of garlic there. But, 7 years ago the farmer died and his kid dont want to inheritance that work. Thats why my father land come back neglected. Only bush and wild plant there. And right now i have obligation to share to anywhere and selling this land. Hopefully this land can sold out so me and my brother no need to burdened with this inheritance business. Actually i dont want to get anything from my parents.LOL. I think their knowledge and their relationship is already great for me. I dont want their money. I dont want their stuff or house. Even i dont want to get their house. I already announce it to give it to my brother and never bothered me about those house. But, i still want to get this money from land. Why? Because like i said before. If i have money and this land still not sold, i can make a good business in there. And it can give my brother passive income too. And if this land already sold. I can get money as my capital. So, i can either building some new business or even i can investing or i can make it as Down Payment to buying my own house. But, if i receive the house. I can't bear to sell it because there are too much memory inside there.

So, what do you think guys???
Is land is the stuck assets for right now??
Or it still good assets that can give huge amount of money after some time??

It’s tough when a valuable land ends up feeling like a burden, especially with taxes and inheritance to think about. Maybe there’s a way to use it in smaller, manageable ways to ease the burden while keeping it productive.

I still dont know what would happened with this land...

Having owned land is a blessing. It has lots of potential; however, the term you may be looking for is that it is an illiquid asset. Meaning, it has value, but not easy to sell and convert to cash. If cash is needed, the fastest way to sell it is to lower the price (discount). There will always be a buyer at a certain price.

As you pointed out, owning land can also be a burden due to taxes. But this is a good problem to have! I think the best way to turn this around is to find ways to make it productive. Find a farmer partner who can help till the land. It definitely is not easy, but that is how the economy can grow. Doesn't necessarily mean you'll get rich by it, but at least your assets are productive. :)

The land might not be convenient now, but it is a finite resource. Population grows, the cities will never be enough. During the pandemic, a lot of people moved out of the cities and went home to their hometowns, especially those who are able to work in a remote setup. Land values can rise up immediately as soon as development within the area starts. Timing though really depends, can be soon, or can be 30 years from now.

too much brain and too much opinion will hestitate the productive.
