I see people in the streets of my town and I conclude that many of them just go around trying to do their best, while thinking very little or maybe nothing about the many economic, social and political problems that our particular society has... Once upon a time I had a greater perception that people were more concerned and active about it. But as the years go by I find in the streets that feeling of: “Let whatever happens happen” which is, clearly, a worrying sign regarding the capacity of a society to recover from bad times...

Yo veo a las personas en las calles de mi pueblo y concluyo que muchas de ellas simplemente van por allí intentando hacer lo mejor posible, mientras piensan muy poco o quizás nada, en la gran cantidad de problemas económicos, sociales y políticos que tiene nuestra sociedad en particular... En un tiempo tuve una mayor percepción de que las personas estaban más preocupadas y activas al respecto. Pero con el paso de los años encuentro en las calles esa sensación de: "Que pase lo que tenga que pasar" la cual es, a todas luces, una señal preocupante en lo relativo a la capacidad de una sociedad para recuperarse de los malos tiempos...

With the passage of time, with the constant impotence hitting the wills, resignation rises over the peoples like an enormous and invincible monster, and it seems to me that unfortunately that is what is inexorably happening in my country... I, for example, am a stubborn critic of what happens here, but I find more and more indifference around me and that makes me, in many cases, prefer to keep silent and not to raise opinions that will fall into the void proposed by those who simply let themselves be carried away by the negative things that happen... Yes, with the passage of time, even I seem tired... But it is not that I have actually given up. No, I continue to rebel against this system, and it's because of that that at this point I'm basically: “A weird guy taking pictures in the streets”... I think I got tired of trying to prevent others from continuing in resistance... At this point in my life, I find a lot of more logic in the words of my eldest son, who has been living in the country for over a decade and who still keeps telling me things like: “You have to get out of there or you will absolutely die surrounded by a ruined town”... It's strange, I always refute his opinion, but from time to time I find it hard to have at hand reasons to support my refusal...

Con el paso del tiempo, con la constante impotencia golpeando las voluntades, la resignación se alza sobre los pueblos como un monstruo enorme e invencible, y me parece que lamentablemente eso es lo que inexorablemente va pasando en mi país... Yo, por ejemplo, soy un empecinado crítico lo que aquí sucede, pero cada vez encuentro más indiferencia alrededor y eso hace que, en muchos casos, prefiera mantener silencio y no enarbolar opiniones que caerán en el vacío propuesto por aquellos que simplemente se dejan llevar por las cosas negativas que ocurren... Sí, con el paso del tiempo, incluso yo parezco cansado... Pero no se trata de que me haya dado por vencido en realidad. No, yo continúo en rebeldía ante este sistema, y es debido a eso que a estas alturas soy básicamente: "Un tipo raro haciendo fotos en las calles"... Yo creo que me cansé de intentar evitar que otros continuasen en resistencia... A estas alturas de mi vida, me suenan cada vez más lógicas las palabras de mi hijo mayor, quien vive se fue país desde hace más de una década y que aún sigue diciéndome cosas como: "Tienes que salir de ahí o morirás absolutamente rodeado de un pueblo en ruinas"... Es extraño, siempre le refutaba su opinión, pero de vez en cuando me cuesta tener a la mano motivos para apoyar mi negativa...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
