Hello booklovers / Bonjour chers lecteurs,
Last year, I read The Bookshop on the Corner, which I loved, and I told my sister about it, she gave me the next volume as gift: The Bookshop on the Shore.
L'année passée, j'avais lu La Charmante Librairie des Jours Heureux, que j'avais adoré et j'en avais parlé à ma sœur qui m'a offert le tome suivant : La Charmante Librairie des Flots Tranquilles.
I read in French, which is my mother tongue, even though the author Jenny Colgan is English-speaking 😇.
Je lis en français, qui est ma langue maternelle, même si l'auteure Jenny Colgan est anglophone 😇.

Half nanny, half bookseller… When Zoe, a single mother struggling to make ends meet, is offered this double job, she doesn’t hesitate for long.

I love it when it's about books, and Scotland really appeals to me. I also appreciate it when I can project myself into the story, put myself in the shoes of one of the characters, and tell myself that I, too, can hope to achieve my dreams one day.
J'aime quand ça parle de livres et l'Ecosse me tente beaucoup. J'apprécie aussi quand je peux me projeter dans l'histoire, me mettre à la place d'un des personnages et me dire que moi aussi, je peux espérer réaliser mes rêves un jour.
The story reminds us that we should not judge without having all versions of events, that we should not trust appearances, that a wounded heart could hide behind a stony or distant appearance.
Le récit nous rappelle qu'il ne faut pas juger sans avoir toutes les versions des événements, qu'il ne faut pas se fier aux apparences, qu'un cœur blessé pourrait se cacher derrière une apparence de marbre ou distante.
Another piece of advice we could take away from this is that we must not forget ourselves when devoting ourselves to others. Altruism is good, but a little bit of selfishness here and there doesn't hurt.
Un conseil qu'on pourrait également en retenir est qu'il ne faut pas s'oublier en se consacrant aux autres. L'altruisme, c'est bien, mais une petite touche d'égoïsme de ci de là ne fait pas de tort.
I don't yet have the next volume, named Five Hundred Miles from You, in my to-read pile, but I'll try to find it in a book box or second-hand.
Je n'ai pas encore le tome suivant "La Charmante Librairie des Amours Lointaines" dans ma Pile à Lire, mais je vais essayer de le trouver dans une boîte à livres ou en occasion.
While waiting to find it, I leave Scotland and return to Russia during the Romanov era, which will allow me to revisit some of the country's history in the company of author Steve Berry.
En attendant de le trouver, je quitte l'Ecosse et je retourne en Russie, à l'époque des Romanov, ce qui me permettra de revoir un peu l'Histoire de ce pays, en compagnie de l'auteur Steve Berry.
I enjoy books with a historical background, so please feel free to recommend any good ones you know of.
