While scrolling through my feed I noticed a post from @melinda010100 promoting another Red Color contest in the Photo-essay community. Usually, when I see such type of contests, I quietly pass by, because they, huh, seem rather dull... but not this time. I made an exception cause haven't participated in a long while and miss it, a bit. Alas, the topic of photo contests on the Hive seems a little faded, especially compared to what it was 5 years ago (though not completely dried up... yet). Which is of course quite sad - because it is an honest indicator of activity.
I could easily fill the post with Fly Agaric photos - that was my very 1st idea where to go. But instead I looked in my recent folder and immediately found another entry. (You will see it at the end of the post). It is a cute little 2-cent stamp... and I could easily fill the rest of the blog with (various and interesting) stamps, but I found it boring. So instead, I opened my #streetphoto folder and looked at what I had...
May 9 is the Victory Day - scene during the festive demonstration. All around was covered with loads of red, the folks carried flags and badges, I took a lot of photos of which I selected this one, with baby sitting on her Dad shoulders. I remembered that many many moons ago I acted the same... Charming!
Below is uncropped version of the photo.
Pizzeria counter. Nothing special except of required red color 🎈 but I enjoyed the colour contrasts and the angle. 😎
A vintage earring (not sure what gem it is, but nothing ultra rare/expensive).
The cup of coffee late at January night.... was astonishing red!
Canada is the country of maples, right? and the maple leaves can be astonishing red... but it is not the right time to capture red maples.
Actually, I wanted to round up my post with something different, and closed my #streetphoto folder for this.
King George V in vintage Canada stamp. Isnt it a beautiful work of art! By the way, did you know that the British ruling dynasty and the Russian Romanov family, including the last Russian emperor, are related? King George V looked very similar to Nicholas II, who was his cousin by mother's side. When I bought this stamp, my wife exclaimed in surprise: wow! what (emperor) Nicholas I is doing on a Canadian stamp? lol.
